crazy1bad | 187 comments The hero is the heroine´s guardian and leaves her at his estate in a cold country. He says he will come back soon when she asks him. The hero has another estate in London where he prefers to live. The heroine waits for him one or two weeks, then goes after him. She finds him having party with his friends, mistress and prostitutes and gets compromised. They get married.

I am not sure but I think the hero is on his ways to the convent where the heroine is, in the beginning of the book. His carriage gets broken and he thinks that he wants to go back London.
Someone passes him a note that the heroine wrote to her suitor to meet up with him in secret at the ´´the usual place´´. The hero goes there and interrupts them or he goes there instead of her suitor and kisses her, I don´t really remember.

I have already checked out that list.

Do you remember any more details about the plot?"

I think they get married because she gets compromised because of that party

Annamariah | 292 comments The word "list" on my previous message is a link to a Goodreads listopia of guardian/ward historical romance novels.

Farida, do you remember when the book was published? What did the cover look like? Was it Regency, Victorian or some other era?

It was probably regency. When it comes to publishing date and cover, I don´t usually care about that type of information. But I can for sure say it was not a modern written book.

Annamariah | 292 comments Where was the convent located? After reformation it was a long time before monasteries were built in England again, so unless the convent was somewhere else (France, for example), it would help narrow down the time period when the novel is set.

Also you mentioned an estate in "a cold country" - does that mean somewhere other than England?

Do you remember how the heroine became the hero's ward? What was the connection between them?

You say it was not a modern written book - so when do you think it was written if not recently? Can you guess a decade? When did you read the book?

crazy1bad | 187 comments I don´t really remember the details. It may have been victorian or regency. I am not sure if it was a convent or a school for young ladies eather. The only thing I can say is that it was not that far away from London.

I don´t know how the heroine became his ward, she was a little girl when it happened and have been neglected by the hero since then. He just left her at that convent or school. He is a rake that likes to party with his friends and women.
I would guess it is written between 1970-2000.
