Looking for Alaska becoming a movie

I just wanna see someone really embody Alaska and her essence. The plot depends on her so much that if the wrong person plays her the entire thing will be a farce.

Dude I totally agree. I'm really not looking forward to all these people who haven't even read the book saying "Ya'll smoke to enjoy it. I smoke to die" or some other famous quote.
I love Looking for Alaska. It is one of my favorite books and I personally like it better than TFiOS. The movie will probably be fantastic..but that book is one of John Green's less well known books. It was special. But now it is gonna grow to be extremely popular (which isn't bad) but like...I don't know..our special thing will be gone and we will be surrounded by people who say they love it when they haven't even read the book...Does that make sense? I don't know. Maybe I'm being weird..

But i really want Kaya Scodelario to play Alaska. Like that just has to happen

I'll watch the movie. As I was reading I thought the first half would be good as a movie. The second half was dragging.

When reading I saw:

Pudge: Asa Butterfield
Colonel: Moisés Arias
Alaska: Chloë Grace Moretz

I also imagined the Eagle as Philip Seymour Hoffman but ya know...

Yes, I've always imagined Logan as Pudge, and I think he'd do an amazing job. Josh as Colonel would be perfect and I don't know, I really want Jennifer Lawrence to play Alaska. It would be very interesting to watch Logan, Jennifer and Josh in other YA movie, since they were in Perks of Being a Wallflower and Hunger Games

I read TFIOS first and i guess i liked it but then I read LFA next and I am in love with that book because it made me laugh in the first part and cry in the second part. I am scared that people will make it a humoungus thing like they did with TFIOS because i heard a lot of things about TFIOS before reading it and then i hoped it would be the best book and it wasn't in my opinion. I want people to read this book because they want to read the book not because there is a movie coming out about it.
For who plays who I just want someone really skinny to play Pudge.

It has to be done very carefully. If a director with a different vision or perspective gets a hold of it, the characters could come across as young, naive, childish and a tad selfish.

I am also afraid that Pudge's love for Alaska would overwhelm everything else in the story. Yes, this is super important to the story, but it is not the entire story.

I can imagine Nicholas Hoult as Pudge.. He's skinny and has physical characteristics as that of Pudge.. He did really well in his movie Warm Bodies.. For Alaska, yeah... Kaya Scodelario has it all Alaska-ish... They just have to play it right...

Alaska is such a strong and unique character that I worry who they may cast as her. Her role is so important, and I hope someone can embody her.
I don't really want anyone who is very famous in the movie because it's a special book, and it shouldn't be made into another typical movie with typical actors and producers just wanting to make a huge profit.
I never imagine actors as any characters when I read a book, so I suppose I'll just have to wait and hope that the correct people are cast!

I wasn't surprised after the success of TFIOS that Looking For Alaska was set to go ahead. I've got mixed feelings about it. I mean, I can't really see it as a movie but I'm holding out hope that the film-makers will invite John Green on set and ask his opinion, take on board what he says and stay true to the book.
When reading the book, I always pictured Logan Lerman as Pudge but I like Dylan O'Brian, too. I never really had an actress in mind for Alaska but after seeing Skins, I definitely thought Kaya would be amazing, I won't be surprised if she doesn't get cast though.

I don't think this book is really movie material. I mean, I liked the Fault in Our Stars, I think they were able to 'movie-ize' it pretty well. Not sure about this one.

Logan shouldn't be in this movie. Instead, he should play a Jewish role for his next film. After 14 years in the movie business, I think it's about time for Logan to finally play his own ethnicity (Jewish) for once.

Honestly, I think it'll be a bad movie. It just isn't a movie material book. Neither was Paper Towns.
I think all of John Green books are becoming movies because of TFIOS

Some books aren't meant to be movies. I think this one is better left for the imagination.
