He shook his head and smashed a cookie angrily, "I can never protect my sisters from him."

"Your only human, Jason," she said calmly, "he's bigger and stronger."

Cindy woke up early and started making breakfast.

Tobias came into the kitchen and sat at the table, "Jason ran away again?"

She nods, "yup, try not to bring it up though," she requests, "it's a touchy subject right now."

Cindy finished cooking and went to get Jason up.

Jason was checking the old fading bruises on his chest when Cindy. He jumped startled and quickly put his shirt back on.

Cindy pressed her lips together, having seen the bruises, but she knew he wasn't ready to talk, "breakfast is ready. Are you going to school today?"

He shook his head looking down silent. He knew Cindy would tell but still....

Cindy nods, "you can come to work with me then, ill call the school and say you have an appointment today," it wasn't the fist time she had called on Connor's behave.

He nodded, "Can I go to Grace's?"

She nods, "how about you come to work with me for the morning, then at lunch I'll drive you over. It's to early to drop you off there," she offered gently.

"Because your skipping school, so I'm going to put you to work," she half teased.

Cindy offered him a smile, "don't look so down, I'll give you the easy jobs."

Cindy fallowed and fixed Cyrus a plate.

Cyrus came in and waved at Jason before taking his seat.

Cindy make Jason a late and then herself. She kept to herself as Tobias told stories about work and Cyrus talked about school and his friends.

Jason listened even though he made it look like he wasn't paying attention. Was this what normal families did? Sure he could go to his dad's but it never felt normal.

Cyrus ran to the door when he was done and got ready with his dad. Cindy told them both to have a good day as they left. She sighed when they were gone and leaned up breakfast.
