Connor frowned, "I care about what happens to you, Jason."

"No you don't! Mommy doesn't. Neither do grandma or grandpa!" Jason cried and wiped a tears that escaped his eye angry at himself for crying.

Connor pulled the boy close and hugged him, "I care about you, your my son," he whispered and rubbed the boy's back, "how about we go to bed? We don't want you late for school."

Jason nodded but didn't move to leave Connor's arms.

"So you want me to stay in here with you tonight?" He asked softly. There was plenty of room in the bed for the both of them, and then some.

Connor nodded, "alright," he helped Jason lay down then tucked him in. He turned off the light and got into bed on the other side.

The next morning, Connor got himself and Jason ready, "do you have everything?" He asked the boy for the third time. Every time he asked Jason would say yes then relived he forgot something.

Isabelle hugged Connor goodbye then saved sadly at Jason. She tried to be nice, now she was just scared of him.

Jason noticed Connor and Tara watching him for his reaction. He reached into his bag and pulled out an action figure he planned on taking with him to school. "Here," he handed it to Isabelle, "Watch him until I come back. He's my favorite."

Isabella looked at it and lit up. She took it carefully and nodded happily, "okie! I will!"

Jason nodded and went to the door.

Connor fallowed the boy and walked him to the car, "that was very nice of you, Jason," he praised and helped the boy into the back.

Connor got in the front and pulled out of the parking garage, "you put my number in your lunch pail, right?" He asked as he drove down some streets.

"Yeah." Jason nodded, "And Tara's number and grandma's."

He nodded, "good boy." He pulled up to the school, "I'll be right here to pick you up after school, alright?"

Connor waved, "bye, be good," he waited until Jason was with a bunch of his friends before driving off.

Dante ran up to Jason, "hey. You got dropped off?"

"Yeah." Jason nodded, wondering if lot of people noticed it. He kind of liked being the only kid who walked to school.

He nodded and watched the car go, "was that the guy from your birthday party?"

He nodded, "yes, he's my dad." he stated leaving it at that and went inside the building.

Dante fallowed, he was Jason's best friend, "so then the little girl is? Your half sister?" He assumed.

He smiled a bit at the name, "that must be pretty cool, huh?" He was an only child.

He nodded, "how long are you staying with your dad?"

"Then your back with your mom," not a question. They went to their class room and sat in their desks.

"Pretty much." He muttered, Dante was the kid he talk to about his mom. Jason started flirting with the girl in front of him.

Dante rolled his eyes at his friend's flirty nature and wondered if his dad hit on girls too. His mom was definitely hitting on guys all the time. He sighed and ignored the girl who tried to flirt with him.

At the end of the day, Connor waited outside the school in the same spot he had dropped Jason off at.

Jason came out the school with Dante, "Do you want to come over? Dad's said it'll be okay."

He smiled, "I like this guy already, sure."

He smiled and lead hi friend over to Connor,

Connor saw Jason coming with someone and got out to put Isabelle's buster seat in the trunk for the moment.

Jason went over to Connor, "This is my friend Dante."

Connor smiled at the boy, "it's nice to meet you Dante," he offered his hand, "I'm Connor Ryder. You can call me Connor if you like."
Dante shook the mans hand and smiled, not sure what to say.
Connor helped them both in and double checked their seat belts before driving home.

Jason was both happy and mad that his dad was babying him so much.

Connor helped them out of the car and brought them back to the apartment.
