Sounds very Agatha Christieish. I think it'd be a great story.

Nancy O'Hare (bynancyohare) I like it, its got a clear story line.
My only suggestion to consider is throwing in some political espionage elements, bringing in international complexities while at sea.

Nancy O'Hare (bynancyohare) Nicely played!

A ship board romance would be fun

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I like those ideas.

Medical condition: Can you do anything with decompression sickness or DVT? I'm lucky, I don't write in the real world, so I could invent one lol

message 6: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments It would have to be a stonking case of DVT. A documentary showed a woman with long legs flying who had DVT. Either she hadn't booked an extra legroom seat or they hadn't taken any notice of her request. She still flew.

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Chronic case of Botox? I can't fly within 24 hours of having my headaches Botoxed!

I can't think of anything else. But I don't have a medical background. If someone was so ill that they couldn't fly would they be well enough to stand trial in the first place?

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Permanent case of The Bends. No idea.

Chrys Cymri | 114 comments How about something contagious, so they can keep him isolated on a ship, but not in a plane?

message 10: by Nancy (new)

Nancy O'Hare (bynancyohare) Carole's suggestion for a romance element could be built around Stone and a US female investigator dynamic.

Air traffics been grounded-all over the world- That would make a great prologue action scene. something to do with computers and a virus. The only way out of the country is by sea.

That's a good one.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments What a clever bunch you lot are! I've been racking my brain cell for some sort of health problem and it's Carole and Chrys and their thinking outside of the box that saves the day.

Chrys Cymri | 114 comments I found this really fun, let's do it again sometime!

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Yes, it's special.

message 18: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I like the volcanic ash idea.

So do I, when the volcano in Iceland blew- it grounded travelers all over our area and Northern Europe.

message 20: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments It was horrendous. I remember hearing about people unable to get home for work, travel insurance not covering anything, people going broke trying to survive wherever it was they were stranded. Wasn't good.

message 21: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments It sounds great on the face of it. But then they start saying you've have to use the rest of your leave or not be paid and life gets real...

message 22: by Chrys (new)

Chrys Cymri | 114 comments Two friends of mine got stuck in the USA. Fortunately, they were able to say with friends.

message 23: by Aislinn (new)

Aislinn If you do want a health condition - my dad has chronic heart failure and he wasn't allowed to fly. The pressure in the cabin is bad for people with heart conditions, so you could do something like that.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I love ships, so an on-board setting will appeal.
