On this alien planet, dreams, wishes, and thoughs can come true. technology has regressed for the inhabitans, as anywhere you have a device that you don't or can't easily understand, tends to blow up. no weapons more complicated than a musket, and no radios any more. corners have to be lit with candles at night to keep ghosts or demons away. some wizard who is considered evil has to be found to do a deal. eventually they manage to get back to space. was a series of books.
