Giu (giumilio) | 39 comments Hey,
the book "Glas (The Dark Tower #4)" has the wrong page number. Its ISBN10 is 3453875591.
The right page number is 959. :)

Empress (the_empress) Hi.

Your edition is here. Please use the "switch to this edition" link.

Would you be able to provide the publishing date for your edition so that I can add it? I'm looking for the date this edition was published not the original publishing date (2003) of this translation.

Thank you.

Giu (giumilio) | 39 comments That's really weird, I scanned the barcode and checked both the ISBN 10 and 13, it always led me to the book I linked here when I created the post. But now, after you answered, the link I added to this posts leads to another book with a completely different page number. ^^

Weird, but at least the edition you linked in your answer is the right one, thank you! And the book I have here was printed in 2013 if that's the information you wanted? At leats that's the only year number in the front that is not 2003. :)

Empress (the_empress) It's not weird. The database allows only for one edition to carry an ISBN. When books are republished the same ISBN is often used.

What has to happen in those cases is for a NEW edition to be added into the database with the correct cover and the correct (new) publishing date but no ISBN.

On goodreads we never ever move the ISBN or change the cover.

However some users are not aware of that or just don't care. Someone had replaced the cover with a new one thus deleting the old record and changing what other people have shelved just to match that one person edition.

You found the edition thinking it is the same but it had a wrong publishing date. What I did was I reverted the cover change bringing that edition to it's original cover and created a new edition (to match yours).

I have also added a link to the original edition's description, so anyone that finds that book with the old cover will be able to easily navigate to the new edition.

The only thing is I am really not sure what is the old edition page count as it has been changed multiple times. I only can guess that if the person got the cover wrong most likely they were also using the wrong page count.

Not sure if the above makes sense.

Giu (giumilio) | 39 comments It makes sense, more or less. ^^

But now I understand why the cover of the book that I linked here, changed, because you created two editions. And I was confused, because I didn't know that the edition with the black cover (which is the old cover here in Germany) has the same ISBN. :)

Empress (the_empress) Yes, publishers keep using the ISBN when reprinting with new covers.

Let us know if you have any questions. :)
