SOLVED. Book with fire, Grace and Jenny. [s]

A friend of mine went on holiday and picked up a left behind book, and wants to finish, but she can't remember what it's called. She said it was about a mother (Grace) and daughter (Jenny) get caught in a fire in a school. They are then in a hospital, having an out of body experience, trying to figure out what happened. My friend only read one or two chapters, and would really like to get another copy and finish. Any ideas?
