They might be on the hospitality committee for a big church and they're making 1,000 cabbage rolls for the next big hoedown. They could be hoarders who feel that last chest freezer could hold just...a few...more...steaks.

I just sent for a used copy of The Spider and the Fly: A Reporter, a Serial Killer, and the Meaning of Murder, because I learned it was about Kendall Francois and was based on someone actually talking to him. That was the enormous missing piece from Body Dump. Dare I hope the author talked to some of his family members as well?
Rita wrote: "I just started reading Hearts; of surgeons and transplants, miracles and disasters along the cardiac frontier by Thomas Thompson. It is very interesting."
I started looking at Murder at the Supreme Court: Lethal Crimes and Landmark Cases, and it look very good, but it's a hardcover too heavy to lug around so I also started Cries in the Desert, apparently because Body Parts just wasn't awful enough for me.

The author was able to have very limited contact with Francois' family, but they soon became hostile, especially his mother.

Finally hit the jackpot at a library book sale!! I almost didn't go to this sale because the last 2 or 3 years I hadn't found enough to make the 13 mile drive worthwhile and it was day 3 of the sale, but I was in the area so decided to stop by and low and behold, there was a section of TC! Apparently someone had purged their TC shelf and donated. I ended up with 28 TC and 10 bio/memoir all for the low price of $10.75. All TC are older but I'm just happy to have found some. Wow, great books you got Koren! They are all on my wish list for now. I read Darcy O'Briens A Dark and Bloody Ground which was an awesome read. Enjoy....
I'm finding that Murder at the Supreme Court: Lethal Crimes and Landmark Cases is virtually a review of many of the cases I've been reading about lately, all of them seen from the POV of the Supreme Court death-penalty issues they raise. I'm learning all kinds of stuff in here -- for one thing, it was news to me that Thurgood Marshall retired from the Supreme Court when he did out of disgust at the court's handling of death-penalty cases.

Not a hair. Are you reading it now Rita?I just received from the library, and eagerly started reading, Death on the Devil's Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey. It's already quite a head-scratcher, just a few pages in. I'm a little alarmed that the police force investigating is being described by detractors as "F Troop" and joking among themselves that "In those days you were lucky if half of us knew how to read and write!"
I don't have it yet but it will be on my next order. Also I put Death on the Devil's Teeth book on my wish list. Thanks Fishface.
If we were still at Shelfari -- sniffle! -- I would go to the book page for Death on the Devil's Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey, scroll to the bottom where they had the "Other Books Like This Book" feature, and add Getting Away with Murder: The Jennifer Beard Inquiry. They are very much the same kind of case.
Just got my copy of Bad Moon Rising in the mail. It's a novel based on the bizarre exploits of John Linley Frazier. A friend on another discussion forum said it was "vaguely Mansony" but I set him straight.

Still reading Death on the Devil's Teeth: The Strange Murder That Shocked Suburban New Jersey and the authors seem strangely uninterested in the fact that at the time she vanished, Jeannette De Palma was dating a guy named WAYNE. There may have been a second WAYNE, called "Nubs" because he was missing both thumbs, but for all I know that was the same guy.
Reverend WAYNE Tate, love interest of the vanished teenager

The Demon Inside by Barbara Wedgwood3 stars
A pastor tries to murder his wife but she doesn't die. And yet she is so badly disabled that she cannot testify against him. This is a sad story but a bit longer than it needed to be.
Follow up to story and possible spoiler:
Doing a search to find out what happened after the book was written I found out the wife lived basically as a vegetable for 25 years and passed away in 2011.

Enjoying When Good Kids Kill, even though the author is trying a little too hard to sound scholarly. Hint to authors: if you want to your books to come across as if you were an intellectual, subject-verb agreement is a must. And for pete's sake, put the apostrophes in the right places. And DON'T irritate me by saying "the estate of Jack Koslow" when "Jack's estate" would do.
Hi, Lady Belleza, and/or Fishface,Have either of you seen anything written about Donna Scrivo or the son she murdered and dismembered, Ramsey Scrivo?
I heard a podcast on the murder on "Sword and Scale, and some you-tube stuff, but I'm interested in finding a book about them.
Y'all seem to be in the know about this stuff.

Lieber Gott, I never even heard of this case before. It happened right where I grew up.
She left the body parts right down by where my aunt lives!

Wow! Does your aunt know?
Probably. If my parents still lived on the East side they would have sent me an article from the paper immediately. She isn't that sort, though.

Holy Cow...Fishface, why didn't you tell me about this woman and it is even more fascinating that it happened where you grew up!!! I want to read this one ASAP! I need this book right now as I am going to put another order in very soon. ***now hyperventilating***

Rita, I would have thought the posts between Hari and me would make clear that until Hari asked about it, I had never heard of it before. It's vintage East Side of Detroit mayhem -- the poor guy was even distributed hither and yon in Hefty bags, like Tara Grant and Alan Canty Jr. before her. (Nostalgic sigh)

Sorry Fishface, I did see it but forgot. I went to the doc's because of dizziness and now I have Vertigo. Wow...I never knew it came with nausea and a whonky head as I feel like I'm tipping over. Dang & Double Dang
I have a friend who suffers from that from time to time. Sounds nasty. I hope you feel better soon, and that they give you some good meds to stop the nausea!
K.A. wrote: "I have a friend who suffers from that from time to time. Sounds nasty. I hope you feel better soon, and that they give you some good meds to stop the nausea!"Awww...thanks so much K.A.! Now I know what you mean when you said your friend has it from time to time. The doc did give me a prescription for the nausea which I will try now.
