Steven | 13 comments I'm looking for this book, I think it might actually be called Crescent Heights, but can't find it under that name. The story is about a middle aged women who leaves the big city as she has inherited a movie theater in a suburb. She moves her stuff and meets a ex-marine baker who is gay. The town is tech heavy and a gated community type.

Please help as I read this book somewhere around 1990's and it was a paperback.

Spoilers:

The plot basically is the town is a body farm. The tech about the town tracks people and she falls for the town Dr. later to find he is involved in everything. Her and the ex-marine go about to Scooby Do the place, drama ensues.

Steven, can you tell us more about the movie theatre - who does she inherit it from, what kind of movies does it play, is it an historical building, etc.?

Could this be a short story in an sci fi anthology/collection? If so, what would be common theme?

What's the tone - mystery, thriller, horror, funny at times, romantic, etc.?

Steven | 13 comments I would guess mystery/Sci-Fi as for the SPOILER: about the high tech housing and the body farming as they try and figure out what is going on in the town. It's an older movie theater that was I think her grandfathers or uncles. It's like a classic single screen deluxe movie theater that was the only one in a small town. It's not an anthology it was its own book full novel.

Andy | 2124 comments There's a list of "Towns with a dark secret" novels here http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php... which this book seems like. Maybe something will trigger a memory.

Steven | 13 comments Thanks for the link, but it wasn't there. Some cool stuff and I like how you have to hit on the spoilers to open them. Still looking :)

Steven, please post a synopsis of the book when you get it. Even if it's just off the back cover of the book. Something, anything to replace the nothingness that is there now.

Anywhere you look online, there's not much of a blurb.

Steven | 13 comments Yeah once I get the copy I will add to the info.

Steven | 13 comments Yes!!! It was Crestwood Heights. Thanks to Kerry and the person who lead her to my request.

I can't find the way to input the info. Does someone know how to do it?

Bargle | 1760 comments You have to be a Goodreads librarian to add it to the book listing. If you'll post it as a comment here or on the book, I'll transfer it to the book listing for you.
