The Kindle Fire does not show up as a device when plugged in to my laptop. I have tried both ports on my Mac. The Kindle Fire shows up when plugged in to another laptop.
My Kindle Voyage shows up intermittently when plugged in to my computer, and shows up fine when plugged in to my husband's computer.
I am trying to figure out if there is a problem with my USB ports, the charging chord, or the device.
Since they show up on other computers it might be your usb cord- maybe try a new cord or hub? I've also found that restarting after a complete shutdown, or resetting to factory defaults usually fixes that particular issue. There are a lot of things that it could be- if you google Kindle Fire or Voyage not recognized you'll get a lot of suggestions.
He has a PC (traitor). Eureka, I talked to Amazon yesterday, and even they didn't know at first, but if you have a Mac, you have to download the Android File Transfer app, because the usb connection only works on a PC.
So your husband's PC has no problem with industry standard apps and hardware like USB? Your MAC does though... Just an FYI. I'm a CTO in a company that has 1600 PC's. We also have 10 MAC's that our creative departments insist they need. 80% of our internal support budget is spent on the 10 MAC's.
WOW, those are amazing statistics. I rarely have problems with my Mac, and I have mostly used PCs. I found PCs a pain, too many conflicts, issues, malware, viruses, etc. This issue with the Kindle is not a big deal, in that I found an app that fixes the problem.
I rarely have issues with PC's. The MAC issues at work are mostly human error. Amazon is not the best when it comes to writing software. It took them a year to fix their Kindle app for Windows 10. Lucky I was able to get the earlier version for Windows 7 and below.
