Poet : Edward Davies
What goes around
Comes back again
That’s what the people say
If you do something
Terrible
You’re always gonna pay
What goes around
Comes back again
In years or just a sec
If you do something
Terrible
You’ll get it in the neck

Nothing bites on moonlit nights
like a wife who turns into a werewolf
because of a curse someone put in her purse,
that transforms her to a bad-hair wolf.
A fired blunderbuss only makes Herb’s wife cuss,
nor smarts any more than a saber would.
Bev sniffs and growls, and her long, midnight howls
wake up everyone in the neighborhood
when she sets out to find the one so unkind
as to make her an unwelcome resident.
Herb, smirking, said to her: should she not find a cure,
she should campaign to be the next President.

M: This is a really interesting poem. The viewpoint you’ve chosen for the subjected matter excites me — I’m not really sure how to put it; the viewpoint is unique in an intriguing way. I enjoyed the “inverted rhyme” (I’m calling it) of werewolf and hair wolf. Also, “fired blunderbuss” is a great description; “fired” makes use of a familiarity that carries a lot of contextual description, and might also be prophetic (who knows?).

Kaleidoscope
by Daniel J. Nickolas
Discarded tinsel fragments,
Mirrors pieced from scrap-glass
Rubbed smooth. Mass produced
Cardboard tube and craft glue;
Four dimes at the 'E-Z' Mart.
And the high tryst
Between eye and light;
Miracles iridescent.

Kaleidoscopes are fascinating. Your poem brings the almost mystical experience to life yet points out that the marvelous devices aren’t necessarily expensive to make.

My eyes are hazy, not yet awake.
Feels as if my sockets are filled with sand.
Why do I make these choices the night before?
Gone to my "home" my bed so late.
I awake but the new day is nearly gone.
I never understand why I sometimes do this again and again.
And I hate myself for it!
Loss of sleep goes around and around and what for?
I must not make that mistake again.
(But just one last time then I'm done...!)

Your poem can be of any length!
This week’s topic is: What Goes Around
Thanks goes to Leslie as this is a slight spin to her suggestion!
The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.
Most of all have fun!
