Since the computer cannot locate them, even if I see them right in front of me, I do not think WiFi will help. Unfortunately I cannot check. None of those we have worked with have suggested this as a solution.

Hi Faith,
You can download your Audible books over WiFi through the Audible app. Please go to the App Store on your device and install the app. After signing in, you will see all your books and you can download them whenever you are ready. Learn more here: adbl.co/2u7C5qj. ^SS

Thanks, but the issue was with downloading from iTunes, not Audible.

Interesting that you too had the same problem. I have tons of books.
The point of downloading them all again seems rather useless since I will have to redo this every time a new computer is purchased. Computers do not seem to hold more than five years, and event that is stretching it. Instead, when I want to reread a book THEN I can download it again from my Audible library. Except for three books all have been read at least once.
The point is that I THOUGHT my iTunes library was a permanent backup and it isn't. People have been stating that occasionally books disappear from their Audible library. I had not been worried since I had the iTunes library, but it is only a backup until you have to change your computer.

There are problems with the Audible app .First of all the the text on them is teeny and I cannot read the text since I have poor vision. I am probably not alone with this problem. Secondly there is a problem if you buy books from BOTH Audible.com AND Audible.co.uk. The app works at only one of the two market places.

I have lost so much music over the years....I get a new computer and most of my music is lost through iTunes. I would never trust books to iTunes for that reason.

The one problem I have noticed so far is that some of my music is listed twice. Haven't been annoyed enough to fuss with clearing that up.
Don't know if this would be helpful to anyone.

I don't play them on my iTunes at all. I just play them on theAudible app

The audible app is too hard for me to read.

I'm still hoping for the audible app to be able in the near future to get spoken commando's - maybe that would be a problem solver for you too.

I can use the app to listen to a book, one can learn quickly which texts are where, but I cannot navigate through the whole process of buying a book. My husband bought a book for me using the app and now I am using it to listen. The thing is, I like doing things myself; I will always choose that alternative I can do on my own.
I now have the app from Audible.com as a reserve in case of an emergency when everything else breaks. In that you have to CHOOSE a marketplace, you cannot have two separate apps (one for Audible.con and a second for Audible.co.uk), my husband can only help me access my books at one of my Audible accounts.

Can you log out of the one marketplace and then log in to the second?

Your new computer cannot necessarily find them. I cannot answer you specific question though. I can say that none of the experts at Audible, Apple or where we bought the computer could find a solution.
Of course, you can go back to Audible and download the book again...... assuming it is still there. There has been so much talk about books disappearing, so I thought the iTunes library was a backup, but it was not for me after change of computers. This is why I have shared what has happened to me here.

Nearly all the hundreds of audiobooks, which are still on the same external hard drive, plugged into the same USB slot on the same PC, as several months ago, are now showing in red print - meaning that Audible Manager can't seem to find the books.
AND - neither of the Sansa Clip players seemed to be activated, nor could I seem to activate them. These are the same two devices I've been using all year. They play just fine, but I can't use Audible Manager to transfer a book to either of them.
I didn't have the oomph to try to work this out with someone on the phone from Audible, given the low ratings for actual service that I've seen posted here in the last few months. So I thought I'd try getting advice from this group first.
What do I need to do to get my Audible library accessible to Audible Manager again?
What do I have to do to make my Sansa Clip players authorized/usable again?

About Audible Manager & MP3 players, there is so much to say. I found support so frustrating that I figured out how to sideload my purchased Audible books to my Sansa Clip.
This Audible help page might help, but following this procedure almost jeopardized my Clip's function, due to a faulty license count.
If you're still looking for a solution, let me know. (There is an unknown file that you need, but Audible Manager overwrites. Hopefully, that file is still on your Clip.)

Yes, this is true. I'm changing computers. I copied the folder with my Audible books to my new computer, went into iTunes and pointed it to the folder. Voila, now they are in iTunes. No hassle.
P.S. I'm not a computer whiz.

I don’t understand why people have all the books in iTunes? Is there an advantage to this I am missing?
I have named my folders on the computer by authors name and store all the books by the same author in that folder inside another folder for each book.
For example, E-drive named folder Tufo, Mark then inside this folder another named Zombie Fallout 01 next folder Zombie Fallout 02 etc. my drive has them all in alphabetical order same for the inside folder. If there are more than 9 books in series then name 1st 01 instead of 1 otherwise goes 1, 10, 11, 2, 3 etc.
When I want to add a book to iTunes I either drag n drop it to iTunes or select add file/folder. This keeps my iTunes folder clean and only have 10-15 books on my iPhone at a time. After I listened to it I remove book from my iTunes but still have downloaded file in my folders.
If you buy audible books and downloaded them thru the app and sometimes the app version updates and crashes you may lose your downloads until you get on WiFi to download them again from audible been burnt more than once on this one.
I have added a portable hard drive to back these folders up so I don’t lose all my books I have digitalized.

I am in a Windows environment. My itunes library is on an external drive. And it backs up to my NAS. I use an external drive just so I don't have this kind of problem. Just changed computers this month and it was easy.
That said, Itunes is getting to be an issue. I keep it because I have Ipods. I am thinking of migrating to media monkey and would be interested in what others do.
I listen on Ipods and manually sync. Once I listen to a book I take it off the ipod but leave it in the library.

Just spent an hour on chat tonight with Audible to get it running again. So far so good. Will have to see how they play, when I was getting ready to download, Audible sent me a message that my files would be enhanced...I set it back to format 4 hope it works. Will try listening to one tomorrow and see if it is ok.
I use Media Monkey for podcasts but it doesn't like my mp3 player so I can't use it for a backup...will have my hubby test it on the external again and make sure it is there.
Related to the iTunes library created if you download Audible books on your computer and then manually drag them over to your iPod or iPhone.
If you download books in this manner an iTunes library is created. I mistakenly thought this would be a backup to my Audible library. It is a backup only as long as you do not change computers.
When your computer breaks and you have to purchase a new one the books purchased on the old computer are no longer accessible. You can no longer drag any of them over to your iPhone. They are in the iTunes library and you can see them, but the computer cannot find them.
Do not think that the iTunes library is a reserve backup for your Audible library.
I have sought extensive help from computer experts, Apple's Genius Staff and Audible. Hours and hours and hours have been spent on trying to solve the problem, but no one has a solution. I am just writing this to warn others.
