August 18, Friday: When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards and just do what you know is right?

The time to do what is right is always NOW.

I don't watch a lot of movies but the only one I can think of that I saw and actually HATED was one of the Rambo movies, I think the third one. I went with a friend that LOVED Sylvester Stallone so I couldn't leave. Longest 2+ hours of my life.

Always.

Yes. We are only suppose to see 90% coverage.

I'll be working, but I plan on trying to get out. I live in Tennessee and we're suppose to have a pretty good view of it. They have even cancelled school for the day.

Not here. We should have about 89% coverage but I don't trust my almost 3 year old not to take off his glasses and stare at the sun.

We were supposed to have about an 86% view .... but heavy cloud cover in my neck of the woods pretty much obstructed everything. I never bothered with the glasses ... in 1979 I used the pinhole box device and that worked wonderfully. I would have done the same thing if the weather forecast cooperated.
In any case, I watched obsessively on CNN / MSNBC from about 10a CDT to about 2p CDT. Just never got tired of seeing it.

It's that childhood fear of being laughed at, I think.

I'm exercising more ... little steps, to be sure, but a positive change. Also drinking more water.

The eclipse was a total disappointment for us. The sun was shining an hour before. Just as it was suppose to start the clouds moved in and then it rained pretty much the whole time. It didn't get all that dark. It was difficult to tell if the darkness was because of the sun or the dark clouds.

I'm a Virgo and we are perfectionists. I think we are embarrassed to have people think we are less than perfect.
August 28, Monday: If you could see any one musician/music group in concert (even if they are no longer together, or dead), who would it be?

I passed up going to a John Denver concert, thinking there would be other chances and a few years later he was killed so I've always regretted that so I would say John Denver.

The Beatles
or
Horowitz .... I WAS lucky enough to see him in concert one Sunday about 40 years ago. He was a marvelous concert pianist.

about 2 books a week. I normally do 2-5 books at once and then finish a bunch all at the same time.

I would guess about 3 hours a day, 7 days a week so about 21 hours. Now if I could just make money doing that!
Leah wrote: "August 30, Wednesday: On average, how many hours do you read a week?"
Somewhere between 7-10 hours a week. It used to be so much more but a toddler quashes the all day read-a-thons.

I'm actually reading less now that I'm retired. I used to have a couple of hours of commuting time each day, listening to audio books ... not any more. I used to regularly spend an hour reading during my lunch break .... no more "lunch breaks." So, when I was working I'd say I was reading about 20 hours per week (including listening to audiobooks while in the car)
I'm still reading, but I don't seem to get those extended times to read. I'm probably closer to 8-10 hours a week now.

Probably about 2 hours per day, so 14 hours per week. Sometimes I get more on my days off.
August 31, Thursday: What book genre do you find out of your element - something you're definitely not likely to pick up?

Romance mainly. I used to not enjoy biographies or historical non-fiction, but lately I have picked up some good ones.

Sci-fi. Read one a few months ago because my cousins daughter wrote it and it was horrible.

I'll read just about anything with words ...at least once. But there are several genres I'm really not all that interested in:
Paranormal
Self-Help
Erotica
