Our August Vintage Group Read is Modesty Blaise. Join us for our read and discuss!

Pete Simpson | 6 comments I've loved the Modesty Blaise books since I was a teenager. There is a great sense of fun and humour in these stories. Although originally pitched as a female James Bond, Modesty Blaise is nothing like him. Both the characters and stories are unique. I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I will rereading it.

Alan (alanb24) | 37 comments I've got to check a box in the garage, and if I've got a copy I'll start it by this weekend.

Cindy Tomamichel | 8 comments I think the villains in the series are the finest I have read -well rounded, odd physical characteristics, and some very strange motivations. None of them are cardboard cutouts, and all of them are worthy adversaries.

I am going to re read Modesty again, and like Pete, hope everyone enjoys them as well. They are probably the most re read series in my bookcases.

Lindig | 2 comments I've been reading MB since the 1960s and am now collecting all the Titan comic collections. I also have all the books. At least once a year I re-read the novels and always enjoy them.

I agree with Cindy about the villains. I'm not so sure I like the mystical/supernatural aspects but O'Donnell makes it so matter-of-fact that it's easily acceptable.

I think my favorite book is "Taste of Death," but there are favorite things in each book.
