Jay (mrisolatedalienated) I told you about this movie several times.
You are wrong on many levels.

"killer deliberately copied the M.O.s of several other serial killers. Which ones?"

None of the lists are correct.

First off. He is in the audience of the serial killer profiler. He based the order of his copycat murders on her presentation.

The serial killers she states are.
1.Albert Desalvo, Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, David Berkowitz, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Ted Bundy.

He corresponds with Darrel Lee Cullum [the fictional serial killer who tried to kill the profiler] in prison and goes by the pen name Peter Kurten.

With Jeffrey Dahmer, he drugs her gay friend who helps her with her PTSD at a bar. He even dresses up similar to Dahmer. Takes him in the alley, puts a bag over his head, beats him up, and then decapitates him. He then left the headless body in the river. So that copycat crime was very tenuous.

Before he gives the friend his spiked drink he calls the profiler on the phone and leaves a message for her. The message is basically him playing a cassette tape of her talk and she realizes he is gonna copy Ted Bundy next.

Fishface | 18924 comments I owned this movie long before I heard of you, Jay. Are you attempting to answer the question or just out me in my place?

Jay (mrisolatedalienated) Well the most accurate would be
B) Jeff Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Albert DeSalvo.

I could easily be wrong because Darrell Lee Cullum, Jeff Dahmer, David Berkowitz would also be correct. Darrell is the fictional serial killer and he does copy cat him.

I saw this movie when it first came out. I remember watching it as a little kid.

I brought up the movie several times to you during discussions and you never stated you saw the film although you might of. Never really knew if you did or not.

Regardless your quiz is confusing given the facts of the film.
That's all.

By the way Copycat is a movie I like to watch for my Halloween marathon I do every single September-October. This year I am watching it [didn't last year] and I am gonna watch Maniac right after watching Copycat.

I tend to group each day. Where I will watch 2 or 3 films and I go by genre. So some days I'll have Zombie day, and then werewolf day, and then zombie day again, slasher movie day, etc.

Fishface | 18924 comments C is a DING DING DING! Correct-a-mundo!

While this was never intended as an essay question, let me address a few points in the essay above:

Item: the fact that Peter Foley based his copycat crimes on Helen Hudson's presentation does not change the fact that he did copycat other killers' crimes.

Item: Helen Hudson does not have PTSD. She has agoraphobia.

Item: Andy's murder, which starts with a meet up in a gay bar, proceeds to a Mickey Finn slipped into an alcoholic beverage and ends with a decapitation murder, not only closely mimics Jeff Dahmer's M.O. but specifically mentions Dahmer's name. The connection is anything but tenuous.

Item: While he does also copycat the Hillside Stranglers and the Boston Strangler, he never copies any of Bundy's crimes. Nobody ever said any of the lists was a complete rundown of every copycat crime; I was only asking for moviegoers to choose the list that only contained correct names, Like Jeff Dahmer, without any incorrect ones, like Henry Lee Lucas.

The only list with all correct names and no incorrect ones was C.
