Just want to share this new review for FAG.http://www.davidwailing.com/2014/06/b...
Needless to say, I'm delighted! :)
Hugely excited to have featured in the final results of the 2013 SpaSpa Awards - UK awards championing indie authors.Maureen and The Big One - Winner of Best Humour, Runner up in Best Novella
Beyond 100 Drabbles - Runner up in Best Anthology
The tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth - Winner of Best Drabble
You can view the full results here: http://www.indie-book-bargains.co.uk/...
I'd also like to officially unveil my new websites. My author site/blog is now ready to go at http://www.jhillwriter.com
... and a new 100 word review blog (a spur of the moment idea!) is now live too at http://www.100wordreviews.com
Very nice! I love the simplicity of the layout and soft colors. The bright colors and moving images others often use on their sites make me dizzy.Where will you be posting your reviews? And will they be posted here on Goodreads as well?
Thanks for checking out the sites, Nancy. :)I'll be posting them on Amazon and Goodreads too. For some books, 100 words might not be enough to do the story justice so I might have to post two reviews - one for the blog and a longer one for elsewhere.
In fact, I'll pop my Two Boys Kissing review on the appropriate thread now.
Well, after some teething problems (Twitter's scheduled tweets service tweeted the first part entirely out of order!), I have resorted to manual copy and paste tweeting and Part 1 of 7 of Only Me is now on my Twitter page http://www.twitter.com/jhillwriterThe tweets will be posted together on Facebook and my blog this evening.
Part 5 has just gone live on Twitter at www.twitter.com/jhillwriter. But fear not if you haven't read the earlier parts. Parts 1 to 4 are now on my blog at www.jhillwriter.com/blog
Final day of Only Me and I've gone live with the final part across all platforms.http://www.twitter.com/jhillwriter

All 7 parts are available to read in successive blog posts via the last link.
Well, firstly, I have to say a big thanks to Tim who left a marvellous review on GR for FAG - it's my first US review and I'm delighted :) You can read the review here:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Secondly, I have just blogged a bit about my writing process as part of a blog tour here:

This weekend, readers can download 'Maureen goes to Venice' free for Kindle. This action-packed comedy caper sees the indomitable Maureen holidaying in the famous European city. Precious little goes right from the very start and, when she meets a stranger who latches onto her, it only gets worse! The story is the first in the Maureen series of eBooks but it works perfectly as a stand-alone tale.Amazon link: http://authl.it/B009RTE1CI?d
Last week I had a wonderful holiday in Dubrovnik. I've just blogged about it using some of the many photographs I took. You can view them here:http://www.jhillwriter.com/blog/dubro...
I'm thrilled to finally release the paperback edition of FAG. To coincide with its release, I have blogged in detail about FAG's journey, from its conception to now. Please take a look here: http://www.jhillwriter.com/blog/fag-a...
Hi Don,Thanks for your interest in the book. Because the paperback has only just gone live, Amazon are still busy merging it with the Kindle version so they don't yet appear on the same web page. However, yes, the link to the US paperback is http://www.amazon.com/FAG-Jonathan-Hi...
I imagine FAG is rather different from The History of Christian Thought! I doubt there are many readers who read both Jonathan Hills!
Don, sorry for the delay in replying. It's been a hectic week! Thank you so much for your interest in the book and for putting it forward in that way. I feel honoured. :)Take care.
I'm pleased to offer 20 signed paperbacks in a Goodreads giveaway. You can enter here: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...To find out more about the novel, please visit the official site: www.fagthenovel.com
I have a Kindle copy, but I'm entering anyway. As convenient as electronic copies are, there's nothing more satisfying than holding a signed book.
Nancy wrote: "I have a Kindle copy, but I'm entering anyway. As convenient as electronic copies are, there's nothing more satisfying than holding a signed book."Agreed! I just entered the giveaway, too - sounds like an interesting book!
Chris: Thanks for entering. Even if people don't review, I'll just be delighted with people reading the book and taking something from it. Nancy: Thank you for entering. :)
Jim: Thanks for your interest in the book.
Good luck, folks!
Your novel sounds very interesting! Sadly the giveaway isn't available to my country, but good luck with your novel :)
Averin - thanks and good luck!Carola - so sorry! Thanks for your interest, though. I really want to visit the Netherlands one day.
Just published a new book. This one is *very* different from FAG. It's the latest in my Maureen series of comedy books, although it can be read as a stand-alone piece. And, as I came out this year, how could I not include a gay character or two? To download Maureen's Christmas Carol -it's free just on release - click: http://authl.it/B00QNRHJ6W?d
Just been interviewed by a fictional writer from a very funny book I'm currently reading. I talk about my writing, Maureen and FAG here:http://robertbryndza.com/?p=2482
I'm pleased (and a little nervous!) to share the cover and blurb of my next book, soon to be released. For those who are interested, I discuss the book a little more on my blog: http://www.jhillwriter.com/blog/cover...
“Where are you going, Liam? You're always going somewhere. I feel as if I don’t know you any more.”
“I told you, Mum, I’m going for a pizza then seeing a film with a friend.”
But Liam is not having pizza or seeing a film; he’s going to his first Gay Pride march.
Liam has always felt different in a way he couldn’t quite pinpoint… up until now. He’s been a caterpillar all his life and his parents want him to stay that way. But Liam wants to be a butterfly.
A tender, funny and moving novella from critically-acclaimed author Jonathan Hill.
My new novella, Pride, is now available on Kindle - soon to be released in paperback. Thanks for taking a look. If you have any questions, I am more than happy to answer them! The Blurb:

Thanks, Nancy. I built the cover using a photograph of a peacock I took on a recent holiday in Croatia. I had no idea it would be used for this at the time!

It's almost a year since I released FAG and what a year it's been. The book hasn't left the top 100 gay literary fiction chart since publication and has just re-entered the top 10, alongside Alan Hollinghurst, John Boyne and Patrick Gale. Dear readers, thanks for all your support.

Pleased to announce that my new book is now out. It's not gay fiction - but I will be returning to that genre soon! Thanks for taking a look. The Anniversary
http://authl.it/B018ZSCEKW?d
It’s the office Christmas party. Cheap booze is flowing, the lights are dimmed and tinny music blasts out of a rubbish stereo. Chris’s hair is gelled around reindeer antlers. Amy’s foot is caught in some photocopier cable. Martin is waving about an inflatable penis decorated with tinsel. And Janet is dancing alone, her husband dead, presumed murdered… by her.
When Janet offers to spend Christmas Day, the anniversary of my own partner’s death, with me, I find myself wondering what she wants.
And why do I accept?
The chilling new novella from Jonathan Hill.

Merry Christmas from Maureen!Okay, not directly gay-related but Maureen does seem to have a gay following and Tiny Tim in Maureen's Christmas Carol is gay!

I'm thrilled to announce that my latest book is out now with a low launch price! It's my third foray into gay fiction (the first two being FAG and Pride) and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. Please note that the book is comprised of two novellas, the second of which does not have a gay theme.
One painting.
Two authors.
Two very different stories.
Inspired by Rod Buckingham's enigmatic 'Is it Her?', Jonathan Hill and Kath Middleton present two novellas, their own takes on this painting.
Is it Her? - Jonathan Hill
The celebration, as Violet so determinedly put it, is falling away before their eyes. Her attempt at buoying up everyone has resulted only in her being drawn farther into a web so complex that no one thread can ever lead to the entire truth. Violet. Cliff. Tom. Jack. Each holds and withholds. Each knows and doesn't know. Each chooses what and what not to say. The picture can never be complete for any of them. Never.
Tonight four sit round a table playing cards. Tomorrow two leave to fight. Over an evening already fraught with tension, emotions run deep and life-shattering secrets threaten to escape.
Is it Her? - Kath Middleton
I'm quite ashamed to remember how rarely we spoke about the politics of the day. The dark cloud that loomed over all our futures. We were simply looking the other way.
Frank and Vera fall in love the summer before the war. They vow that when it's all over they'll marry. But war has a way of tearing lives apart.

Hi all. I've been absent for some time because of work and writing but I'm looking forward to catching up with the rest of the group. First, though, I have some exciting news to share!Introducing... Not Just a Boy

There was precious little evidence, and certainly nothing concrete, to confirm that I liked boys. I just knew that I’d fallen for him. And if he’d been a girl or a… or a frog… maybe I would have felt just the same love towards her or it.
When two friends move to a new school, they expect some change but nothing like the events that unfold over several terms.
A schoolboy crush takes hold and refuses to let go, propelling both boys towards a moment so devastating it will change their lives forever.
A gripping and moving coming-of-age novella from the author of the award-winning novel FAG and the novella Pride.
I discuss the book a little and have posted the opening chapter on my blog here: http://www.jhillwriter.com/blog/cover...
Thanks for looking :)

I've posted in several places here already (great group!) but I'd like to introduce myself here too, as an author.
I started writing about two and a half years ago as a means of helping me to recover from illness during time off work. Since publishing my first book, I've never looked back!
Right, a whistle-stop tour of my books. I'll be brief because I'm new and I don't want to bore people...
First up was ECLECTIC: Ten Very Different Tales, a book of, surprisingly (!), eclectic stories. Then came Maureen goes to Venice, the first book in the Maureen series. Maureen is a well-meaning but bumbling lady and disaster strikes wherever she goes! The series, which also includes A Letter for Maureen, Maureen Gets Crafty and Maureen and The Big One, is full of humour but also pathos. One reviewer described her stories as 'hilariously tragic', which I think is apt. I published a follow-up to Eclectic, imaginatively titled Beyond Eclectic. The stories in this are unconnected to the first book and are on the whole a lot darker. Then I became obsessed with drabbles, stories precisely 100 words in length. I published two books of these, one with a close friend. 100 One Hundred Word Tales and Beyond 100 Drabbles. 100 One Hundred Word Tales contains a series of stories about a chap called Miles, and this was my first foray into exploring homosexuality in my writing.
My latest, and my first full-length novel - are you still following?! - is FAG, a hard-hitting book set in a boarding school for boys. The book examines bullying and homophobia and is my most significant work to date. The book also revealed my sexuality to the world and so it was no doubt the biggest book release of my life.
Some have criticised the title, but I believe we need to tackle homophobia head-on and the bold title is to force people to confront it and think. The title is a play on words - it alludes to the fagging system in English boarding schools but also the offensive term for a homosexual. The title has caused problems on Amazon as reviews that mention the title are immediately deleted as being inappropriate (!)
Okay, that's me in a nutshell. I'm currently working on the next in the Maureen series. I'd love to chat here, so ask any questions and I'll update you when I can.
My websites are: www.jhillwriter.com (currently in development) and www.fagthenovel.com
