Hi Damon,You could try books by Brian Greene. 'The Elegant Universe' (1999) is a solid introduction. He has written books since then but I can't vouch for those until I read them.
Cheers
Was tempted about that one but description didn't mention string theory so I left it, will check it out again :)
A good book about the current state of string theory is Joseph Conlon's "Why string theory?" (2015). The author is an advocate of string theory though, so there is no discussion about alternative theories such as loop quantum gravity. But as for string theory, it is not a bad book and rather up to date.
A theory is a contemplative and rational type of abstract or generalizing thinking, or the results of such thinking. Depending on the context, the results might, for example, include generalized explanations of how nature works
