David Sven (gorro) | 316 comments I like how the cutter wears his victims lips as armbands. Looks like Snorri and Jalan are inseparable now.

Geoff (geoffgreer) I'm liking this book so far.

Also, I'm reading this without having read any of the Broken Empire series. I'm likely to be alone (or close to it) in that regard.

David Sven (gorro) | 316 comments I liked the unborn fight scene.
Also nice the revelation about the Red Queen's brother.

David Sven (gorro) | 316 comments Looks like this unborn is somehow linked to the one back at the opera.

I certainly didn't pick this up when I was reading this part.

David Sven (gorro) | 316 comments The circus master seemed pretty pissed that Jalan and Snorri hadn't mentioned they had an unborn on their tail - he's pretty much blamed them for the miscarriage and aftermath.

Geoff (geoffgreer) Alex wrote: "Is the Circus Master someone we've seen in the Broken Empire books? Taproot seems very familiar, especially his "watch me" tic."

There's something up with that character. Perhaps being a circus master is just his cover story for something else.

Alex wrote: "Geoff, you don't need to know much to understand it. If you're confused about all the historical references, this novel is set on Earth. Let's leave it at that for now—his other trilogy goes a lot more into the why."

Yeah, Prince of Fools (which I've now finished) is completely enjoyable and coherent without reading the Broken Empire books. I am interested in the connection to Earth, there was one particular scene that made me think that there is something very cool going on with the world.

Geoff (geoffgreer) Edited.

His lips?

David Sven (gorro) | 316 comments Taproot is in King of Thorns. I looked it up. I missed all those connections. Interestingly, he didn't have elephants then.

Deleted the offending post. I'm not reading these threads since I haven't read the first series yet.

Geoff (geoffgreer) Thanks. It wasn't a plot spoiler but it didn't come from Prince of Fools

Bill | 1596 comments I can't decide whether I like all the Earth history references or not. On the one hand it seems like a natural progression due to it being Earth but on the other hand it feels a bit cheap in Lawrence not developing his own culture for the series.

Sumant | 522 comments Taproot seems interesting, he seems to know lot about things which are going on.

Also is Snorri being stuck with Jalan planned by Red queen ? because she had released Snorri, and did she expect Jalan to make a move for him to fight in the pits ?

Suzanne | 1582 comments It never crossed my mind that she planned that, but I suppose it is possible!

You are right about Taproot - he is pretty mysterious.
