Chelsea (ceinheuser) Book Club Notes 7.31.14

Here are some key points that we talked about at the meeting. I am so happy we all loved the book Cinder.

*Prince Charming was (Prince Kai) who actually formed a relationship with Cinderella (Cinder).

*Author used a real location the Capital of China, Beijing and that she kept it realistic and believable in the future.

*Parallel examples of classic & Sic Fiction: The Orange rusty Gasoline car was a hint of the Cinderella's pumpkin carriage.

*Classical fairly tales is a part of all different cultures and our history. Everyone has their own different telling or twist of Cinderella.

*The book had a sense of Stars Wars; cyborgs, androids, hovers, etc...

*Loved that the Author took a common classical character like Cinderella and made her a strong, smart, and cunning female character Cinder. She knows how to kick butt.

*Who could be Cinder's fairy godmother? Maybe Dr. Erland.

*IKO+Robot+neat personality. We hope she will comes back in the series.

*Peony+Step-sister+Friend

I didn't even think of the car as the pumkin! I love the little hints to the fairly tale. It's possible Dr Erland was the fairy god mother hint but I don't think it showed until the second book. He gives cinder some unique items. But it's possible iko was the fairy god mother because she was always cinders go to person and had the dress for her.
