Devon | 16 comments Okay, Okay, I know, this is a young adult novel. About cancer. And puppy love. Not so entertaining, right? Wrong. I read the book so that I could compare it to the movie, and totally fell in love with the book! It's absolutely amazing -- it doesn't feel like a teen novel; it's smart, insightful, and philosophical. The characters are intimately real. A great book if you like Jodi Picoult type novels of life, death, and family. Oh, bring tissues.

Matt Ockmond (matt-o) | 2 comments I really loved this book. I can't think of a person who I would not recommend it to. It's a perfect example of not knowing what makes a book YA other than being about young adults. It's funny, beautiful, heartbreaking, and romantic. Not necessarily in that order. It is the best of John Green's books I've read so far.

Gill | 16 comments I recently read this book for a second time, partly so I could make a good comparison to the movie, and partly because it's just that good. I have lent my copy to numerous people. John green does such a great job writing as a teenager and a female, of which he is neither, and also, in my option, is very honest in the character's emotions.

Suzanne (zoozanne) | 4 comments I just finished this book a few days ago after my 11 year old insisted I read it so we can see the movie. I was hesitant because I wasn't in the mood for something heavy and depressing. Although there is sadness, it's a hopeful and beautifully written story. The precocious teen characters are heoric in a genuine way that's so different from those in other "YA" fiction recently, like Hunger Games and Divergent series.
