I wonder what it was that brought you here
                                                        are you the innocent?
                                                        or are you the guilty?

Silent Hill is a small resort town in America known for it's quaint and peaceful ambiance. Enveloped in an all consuming fog, the townsfolk are plagued by the memories of Alessa Gillispie, a young girl who "died" in a "housefire".

On the exterior, Silent Hill is a somber town desolate and lonesome. But in reality, it's a torturous hellscape, constantly switching between the real world and a decrepit, monster ridden "otherworld", a world that makes its presence known by sounding a loud tornado siren alarm as it transitions over.

Those who roam the streets of Silent Hill do not find escape. They roam to find peace, narrowly escaping the creatures that follow them. The town in both realities is abandoned, all streets leading out are cut off, all roads are blocked. There is no way out of Silent Hill once it has you in its grasp.

Most of the people that find themselves within Silent Hill have committed horrible acts, with immense guilt hanging over their shoulders. The town melds itself to them, adapting and flexing around their psychological state to make sure that every moment is living hell for them -- until they come to terms with their misdeed. Many of them are already dead, trapped in an otherworldly purgatory, doomed for eternity. The events of which precede being captured by the town vary widely.

For instance, those nearing Silent Hill who intend on going voluntarily might end up in a mysterious car crash, waking within the town itself. Some might even find that the very world around them becomes Silent Hill, regardless of where they actually are. In that way, every resident has some form of control over how the town looks, what happens within it, and what degree of suffering they will endure. Though this power they have typically wanes quite a bit, especially if they're incredibly emotionally sensitive and have little reign on their feelings.

Though there are a rare few that have complete control over their emotions, and thus complete control over Silent Hill, considered the gods of their own realm. They decide who leaves and who dies, they decide when the torment ends. They are the victims of corruption and abuse, those who learned to harness their hatred and use it to mold reality.

Those of the like of Alessa Gillispie, a girl taunted and tortured in school because of her supernatural abilities, called a demon and a witch and ultimately burned to death at the hands of bigoted church goers. She started it all, the town latched onto her and she molded it to her will. She punishes those who catch her eye But she isn't the only one with supernatural abilities, she isn't the only one who can mold reality.

These beings typically do not get along. In one way or another, the town has taken on a life of its own and their existences clash greatly within it. Often they fight, sometimes they separate territory, occasionally they kill one another. These deaths cause great shifts within the town, sometimes killing all non supernaturals within it, restarting the process anew.

Your character can be one of many. Though you may need to request any characters with special abilities or attributes.

Common Majority
These are the characters who were either called to Silent Hill or came to Silent Hill by accident. The people who committed a sin of some sort, the people that wont own up to their guilt or have perhaps forgotten what they did wrong. To them, Silent Hill is a personal nightmare that they're trying desperately to escape. The more emotional they are, the worse Silent Hill is for them. Unless they figure out why they've been put into actual hell, they'll only continue to suffer.

Supernatural Abilities
You may make a common majority character with supernatural abilities, but they can't be overpowered, telekinesis, telepathy, even psychic abilities are allowed. But the common majority cannot control Silent Hill, they have no idea where they are or how they got there.

Personal Demons
Every person who enters Silent Hill leaves their mark on it. Through their own personal guilt, monsters manifest, beings specifically made to torment them into redemption, to hunt them down and give them hell. The physical embodiment of their regrets. These characters can be humanoid or animal like, they have to be paired with a human, dead or alive, and they can never leave Silent Hill. They do not control Silent Hill, they only wander, rarely conversing, rarely speaking at all. because they were not "born", their emotions are stunted, they just are. And their own existence often terrifies them. The majority of the time, they are compelled to be immediately hostile.

Witches
Male or female, witches are people born drawn to Silent Hill. They have supernatural abilities and a distinct connection to the location, regardless of whether or not they're guilty. They are destined to dwell within Silent Hill, they can warp reality, to switch Silent Hill from the somber townscape to the foggy, muddled hell that hides beneath, and they can even control the personal demons as well. These characters need to be requested.

Demons
These characters have no business being within Silent Hill other than to tempt people away from redemption, or feed on the souls of the dwellers. They can go in and out of the realm as much as they'd like and are usually malicious in nature. They are the biggest enemies of the witches. They need to be requested.
