Haley S (haleyjs) Hey fans, this is where we can chat.

message 2: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) Anna, you like Melanie's books?

message 3: by Anna (new)

Anna Dressen Yes, my favorite is The Healer's Apprentice.

message 4: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) Thanks so much, Zoe for doing the picture!

message 5: by Zoë (new)

Zoë (zoeblife) | 1378 comments No problemo!

Princess Emilia | 1655 comments I just went to a Renaissance Festival for the first time yesterday and now I'm in the mood to re-read one of Melanie Dickerson's books!

P.S. Everyone should visit a Renaissance Festival at least once in their life, if possible. I had soo much fun dressing up and shopping around, even if I didn't get to do everything I had planned and even if it rained and we had to leave early (that's typical Michigan weather for you).

message 7: by Zoë (new)

Zoë (zoeblife) | 1378 comments I've never been to one before. What's it like?

message 8: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) That sounds so cool. I have never been to one before though.

Princess Emilia | 1655 comments It's unlike anywhere I've ever been! The staff is all dressed up and they really really get into character. I think the only thing I didn't like is that there was a section of the festival that was slightly more "adult", and that was annoying, but other than that, it was amazing! There's even a mermaid show and a joust. I dressed up as a fairy (:

message 10: by Zoë (new)

Zoë (zoeblife) | 1378 comments That sounds fun! Do you have to buy your own costume?

message 11: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) Sounds fun!

message 12: by Princess Emilia (new)

Princess Emilia | 1655 comments You don't have to if you don't want to. Costumes can be really really expensive. You could just make your own outfits out of things in your closet that can kind of pass as "Renaissance-y", that's what I did. I wore a lace shirt with black pants and boots and borrowed my brother's fiance's costume fairy wings.

message 13: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) so cool!

message 14: by SparksofEmber (new)

SparksofEmber FYI, I made a peasant shirt for my husband and he purchased one of those all-in-one outfits that he wears as pants and a pair on sandals at a Renaissance festival. Simple and fairly inexpensive costume!

message 15: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) Cool!

message 21: by Princess Emilia (new)

Princess Emilia | 1655 comments This is very random but I'm going to enter a drawing into a competition and I have no idea what to draw! I was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas. It'd be great if it had a Christian theme but it doesn't have to.

message 22: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) Well, you could do a drawing of the days of Creation...

message 23: by Princess Emilia (new)

Princess Emilia | 1655 comments That's not a bad idea!

Zoë (zoeblife) | 1378 comments I was just going through my Reading Challenge and I've only read four books so far this year, and looking at them, I'm pretty impressed with what they are so far :P

#1 Season of Wonder by Lisa Bergren
#2 The Merchant's Daughter by Melanie Dickerson

And
#4 Deluge by Lisa Bergren

What books have the rest of you read so far this year?

Princess Emilia | 1655 comments I'm so happy that I finally have a friend outside if goodreads who loves Melanie Dickerson's books :) I don't have a lot of friends who like to read and the ones that do, don't like the same genres that I like, so I finally have someone to fangirl with! You should have seen us squealing over the books hahaha

message 47: by Haley (new)

Haley S (haleyjs) Oh that is so awesome!!

message 48: by Celestial (new)

Celestial That's so cool Princess Emilia. I don't think any of my friends like the same genres as I do.
