SOLVED. Fantasy - Thief becomes immortal. [s]

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well.

I have vague memories of a fantasy book read ~10-15 years ago. I can't remember the plot exactly, but I *think* I recall it involved an ordinary thief that became immortal over time.

At one point the thief robs a village. Upon returning many years later he finds that the robbery has become legend and where he actuality he stole not much at all, it has been recorded that he stole a great amount of treasure.

Does this ring any bells with anyone..? Google searching immortal/thief/book/treasure etc is not very helpful at all. Thanks!
