I wasn't surprised that he died. I knew he would be a liability for whoever Mr. Big is and couldn't be depended on to keep quiet and things were getting hot for him. He was murdered because he knew where all the bodies are buried, literally.
He was too big for his own britches, as we used to say, back just after the dinosaurs went extinct!

However, I did not see that coming. Should have, though because he was becoming a liability. Willie was too publicly exposed and starting to become vulnerable.
He was obviously blackmailing Mr. Big and like Jonetta said, he was not very circumspect in his lifestyle. He was definitely becoming a liability.
