Michelle Perez | 8 comments Looking for the name of a series of books that had a woman who traveled back in time to Scotland through a cairn.

I don't remember a whole lot about the series but it may have anywhere from 3-5 books. I want to say that the titles all tied together with a similar word like "rose" or"sword" or something.

I believe the woman ends up in Scotland on a vacation or something and then goes to visit a cairn and falls through time to end up back in time. I seem to remember that she ends up falling in love and all that jazz but then somehow falls through time again and ends up back in her modern time and ends up depressed because she wants to go back but can't figure out how.

Thats all I can remember, but I am reading the outlander now and it is not the one I am remembering but the outlander did remind me of this other series.

I read this book back in 2004 but I don't know when it was originally published though I imagine it was somewhat recent.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Tina (tina_evans) | 61 comments There is a time travel Scottish series by Karen Marie Moning, it has a similar theme in one of its books. They are pretty good.

SamJ ★Needs a HEA★ | 155 comments Or try Lynn Kurland - she has a time travel series with some of them set in Scotland.

Michelle Perez | 8 comments Hmm. Nope, it's neither of those authors. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Ms.soule (mrssoule) | 109 comments Some possibilities:
The Rose Trilogy by Brenda Joyce - this is also connected to her Masters in Time series
Daughters of the Glen series by Melissa Mayhue
The MacLeod series by Lynn Kurland
Pine Creek Highlanders by Janet Chapman

Michelle Perez | 8 comments Blargh. Its not any of those. Thanks though :(

message 8: by Tina (new)

Tina (tina_evans) | 61 comments Or the Brotherhood of the Sword series by Kinley MacGregor?

message 9: by Michelle (new)

Can you remember anything about the cover? Anything else about the plot that may help narrow it down?

Lauren Flesher | 21 comments My mom loves the Outlander series, and just read these books! I know exactly what you're talking about :) There are four books. Son of the Sword, Outlaw Sword, Sword of King James, and Sword of the White Rose. All by J. Ardian Lee. However I think they have a man time travelling rather than a woman. But my mom said they are very similar to the Outlander series, almost to the point of plagiarism!

Debbie Jackson (debbi3r) Could it be On the Edge of Darkness by Barbara Erskine? She writes a lot of time travel historical fiction.

Michelle Perez | 8 comments Well despite me getting some of the major details wrong, it definitely looks like the series mentioned by Lauren. I have them reserved at the library so we will see.

Thanks so much for the help!

Highland Rogue by Tess Mallory sounds similar to your book, but it appears to have been published in 2008 - although the series started in 2001.

Samantha The Escapist (greatescapist) | 37 comments Looks like it might be solved but I'll mention this title here anyway while we're on the topic. Actually set in Newfoundland and often unheard of since it wasn't widely published. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

It's not a bad read (though I read it AGES ago)

Here's the series Lauren mentioned which Reya thinks might be the books:

https://www.goodreads.com/series/6206...

The first book in the series is:
Son of the Sword

Reya, was that your book or are you still looking?

There | 121 comments You could check out Susanna Kearsley's books. All are standalone, but based in that area and involve time travel.
