One of the most chilling, and revealing, reflections in the book is about 'psuedo-speciation.' Miller writes that it's the "tendency of members of in-groups to consider members of out-groups to have evolved genetically into different, separate, and inferior species relative to our own." I know we can counter this with relationship building across cultures. What makes it more difficult along the border seems to be the calculated maneuvers of politicians and BP to manage those cross cultural relationships in ways that do anything but build respect.
