Manuel García Borrego (manoletus) | 1 comments I just added the English version of this Dutch book, but had some trouble with the ISBN, because it has been used previously with this other book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3.... It's virtually the same, but the author is different: the book I added is written by Thijs Zonneveld, the real author; and the other one I'm talking about is mistakenly assigned to Thomas Dekker, the character the book is about, but not the writer. It would be useful if there were a way to unify both.

I had to suppress both ISBNs so that I could add the English addition, but doing that I also lost the cover. If you could please add it from here, because it won't let me edit anymore: https://www.penguin.co.uk/content/dam...

Thanks a lot. You are so great!

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments According to the book Dekker is author of it.
(which says the cover and the first pages)
He and Zonneveld are both listed as authors on the first pages of the book (look inside feature of amazon is quite helpful sometimes)
image: authors

Dekker is not "just a character in the book" he is an actual dutch cyclist. (Zonneveld a former cyclist)

added cover to the paperback and moved the editions to the correct Dekker profile

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments When there are more than one author involved we're going by the order on the cover - and as there is only Dekker on it he will be the primary author

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments oh just found the second batch of the books (the ones under Zonneveld) ... combined them and will look at the covers and which one are the older ones ... eventually that makes a difference in the order

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments as the original dutch version (which is - obviously - the older one) has listed Zonneveld on the top of the cover - and Dekker further down I set Zonneveld as primary.
But as that book is an autobiography and my professor at university pointed out several times that the difference between autobiography and biography is that it's from the guy himself and it's not written by others over him (had to do some research about autobiographies of popes ...) I'm not feeling really confident with having Dekker second I must admit.
Because that looks more like "Zonneveldt wrote something he thinks fit over Dekker" and doesn't show that's Dekker more than just "a character" in that book ...
(amazon lists Dekker first on english and german version and Zonneveld isn't mentioned on the english cover at all)

other opinions?

Added the german paperback edition + moved the german kindle to correct Dekker and added Zonneveld

Zonneveld should be primary author.
Worldcat only lists Zonneveld as author for the Dutch edition: http://www.worldcat.org/title/thomas-..., as does the publisher: http://www.overamsteluitgevers.nl/boe... ("Thomas Dekker" or "Thomas Dekker: mijn gevecht" is the title for the Dutch edition).

Just like several other books from this publisher: http://www.overamsteluitgevers.nl/boe...
The writer of the book is credited, as they wrote the book.

Dekker told his story to Zonneveld. Zonneveld is the one who wrote the actual book.

At least according to GR 'first published under', Zonneveld should be primary on all editions.
