Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone question

Why is Harry Potter still so relevant?

I'm only guessing here but it's still so relevant because there is a new crop of kids that age in to reading it every year. A lot of those kids have parents that read it and loved it and want to share it with them.

I didn't start reading Potter until 2001 when I was 18 and a senior in high school but I still fell in love with the story and when/if I have kids I will jump at the chance to share it with them. I already know I'm going to be buy my best friend's kids a full set of the books when they get a little bit older (3 year old and a newborn are a bit too young to start Potter).

It's still relevant for the same reason Tolkien and the Hobbit are are relevant despite being written in the 1920s and 30s. They are great examples of Children and Young Adult fantasy. If fantasy isn't quite your thing I can see why it might not make sense, but it captures a unique feel that is rare in the rest of children's' literature. There also is not a ton of well written children's and YA fantasy out there, especially series that can appeal to both kids and adults. There is a lot of well written historical fiction, and realistic, but not nearly as much fantasy and sci-fi (note I said well written there is a lot of junk lol)

I also think, much like Pokemon, the Harry Potter generation is now adult and has their own kids, so a whole new generation of kids are having the stories read to them, keeping it alive.

I think that it´s still very relevant because it´s the childhood of lots of people (including me) and that there are times when we need magic in our lives and Harry Potter bring us that hope and that magic that we all need, it´s our escape from this world to a magic one when we all are wizards and live adventures with Harry, Ron, and Hermione and even when there were in bad moments the magic was always alive and that is why it is so relevant because in the darkest moments there will always be magic, besides that Harry Potter taught us very important things such as how important is friendship, that we are all brave and that like I said the magic will be always alive inside of us.

If something is genuinely well-loved, and not just a short-term trend, people's enjoyment of it will have no proper end.
If an entire generation's love for something can end less than 10 years after it's ending, it probably wasn't that good, tbh.
And readers will become parents and show their children the series that they loved.

There's also the matter of how it's popularity has influenced the (mostly YA) Fantasy genre as a whole. All magical school stories published after HP gained popularity have clear Potter influences, even some of the more unique ones. It's not on the same level as Tolkien (which is, like, the basis for all modern fantasy), but still.

It's still very relevant because in every book J.K Rowling writes she sends messages/ themes which are very much needed in the real world. One is, " you can always count on your friends". It's also still relevant because the books are written with such detail that the world stands back in awe and continues to love it.
