2 questions; 1) who do you think hired the hit men? 2) the head of security (or brilliant nameless narrator!) dies at the end, yes? But is it by moving his head under the ruse of grabbing his pencil?
did you ever find insight on your questions? i just finished the book and i am overly annoyed these answers are not clear.
