Lau Maia | 444 comments Hi,

I've come across with this series https://www.goodreads.com/series/5445...
I0ve been reading the librarians manual about series and it states that normally this shoulnd't be a series because this are books from different authors. Am I right?
I need to understand what should I normally do? Just let it go because it's been years since it was created or should I create a listopia and delete the series?

Thanks in advance,
Lau

Sandra | 31408 comments Lau, many series have different authors, so that isn't part of the criteria of whether it is a series. Are all editions of a book part of the series even across different publishers, do they have common characters or world building?

This is non fiction so different criteria again. I'm not sure whether this is a series or not, as to me non fiction is always a gray area.

One of the supers or Rivka will probably chime in with a response.

All the editions of each work appear to be part of the series. It's definitely borderline, but I think it's ok to stay.

Lau Maia | 444 comments Thanks for the reply. I was having issues with some situations and still am but I'm getting there. As I'm not sure what the protocol is I've sent two messages to librarians about deleting series, should I delete incorrect series myself?

I've come across this two series:

https://www.goodreads.com/series/1877...
This is a series of readers digests condensed books by Readers Digest and they're all from different writes, I've created the listopia and messaged the librarian but maybe I should just delete it?

The other one is this one https://www.goodreads.com/series/210739
Which just has a lot of classic books listed

One other thing that I've been trying to understand is if it's correct to create a series when a book is edited in more than one part like if the first Game of Thrones book as an edition witch is book 1 part 1, book 1 part 2 . Sometimes I see this books creating a series and this doesn't make sense to me, correct?

I'll be checking your post now Tim

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments #5 I think the readers digest one isn't a series - and as you've even created a list it may be ok to delete it (I wouldn't have done the list I must admit)
the other one is currently mentioned in several threads - and there is a note that a librarian has messaged the creator that he should do a listopia if he wants to keep them listed - as the list itself was created 2 days ago it would be fair to give him time, and the librarian mentioned he will be keeping an eye on that.

Lau Maia | 444 comments Lachgas that was me actually :) Thank you for the input, I was just a bit scared of doing something I shouldn't but I think I got it :)

Lau Maia | 444 comments Tim,

I've deleted the Portuguese one and made a listopia out of it,

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments #8 ah didn't know that (the log isn't the best for series) and the note doesn't save the name (unlike at the normal librarian notes)
