Name: Anneke (ah-nuh-ka) Dashwood
Age: 18
Appearance:
Long red hair that straightens down towards the middle of her back and tends to curl up at the ends. Brown eyes inherited from her father and scattered freckles from her mother. Anneke stands at five foot, eight with her low Docs on.

History:
While trying to time travel to a different era, Anneke accidentally traveled to the 80s and is now stuck, trying to find her way back home or to her destination. Fortunately enough, the devices which allows her kind of time travel are scattered throughout the eras but the trouble is where it is in the era. It could be anywhere in the world. But her father explained to Anneke that she would feel a soft hum inside her once she was close.
After being dropped out of the sky, Anneke now lives nearby a small enough town to get everything she needs. Where everyone knows everyone else and strangers are either unwelcomed or are shown hospitality. And Anneke has gained the hospitality part. Most kids think of her weird for traveling to each house for meals but she explained her reason: her parents disappeared (partially true) and now she doesn't know where they are (not really true). So now she's the pity case around the town and everyone does their part to help her. That is not to say that she doesn't help every once in a while. Anneke usually helps with being a waitress in the diners or being a cashier at the grocery store. Some of the people have even offered their cars as shelter for her to sleep in.
Everything that Anneke owns, she earned that through the payment she receives from her jobs. Her Walkman, her black Docs, her cassettes, and her jeans with baseball t-shirts are all hers. Despite the fact of being made fun of for wearing the same clothes every once in a while. Which she keeps very clean despite what people may think.
After a few weeks of living in the town, which has the population of one thousand, Anneke has kept in mind that she has to find the device to travel back to her time but hasn't quite figured out how to do that yet.

Personality:
Anneke has always been the quiet type of person and hasn't really been able to connect with people as quickly as others. It's not that she doesn't trust you, it's just that it has to be days or weeks of meeting each other and then she'll slowly begin to trust you.
Despite being a fairly shy person on the inside, Anneke often likes to dance wildly to the music she listens to on the radio or the Walkman. Which can be quite funny to watch if you're a bystander.
Always wanting to be in the countryside, Anneke received her wish from arriving in the small town and often takes out to the fields of catches a ride on a friend's bike.

Friends: Not too many teens. Mostly adults.

History:
Ashton is a country bow and always will be. He grew up in a small town, but always had dreams of doing something worthwhile. Something bigger than just working the Fields and going to school. Recently graduated from high school, he is taking a gap year to figure out what he wants to do for college. He works on his families land and keeps everything running. He was always an amiable figure, never too loud or too quiet and he loves to meet the strangers that wander into his cozy little town, always asking them where they've been and what it's like out beyond his little place. He loves reading and especially likes action adventure books, having finished every single one in the local library. He's a smart guy and a quick thinker, always having curious thoughts and ideas. He is somewhat friends with most everybody, with only a few people who don't like him. Though he knows a lot of people, he's close with only his younger brother who is in elementary school. Nobody really knows him too well and the best everyone can figure is that he's just some boy born from a family in the country that has really only one route in life, that being taking up his dads job of farming the family land. He hates this and promises to himself that one day he'll do something that will make a difference in this world, no matter what.

Personality:
With a western kinda feel about him, He's very friendly and incredibly curious. If ever there was a cat to be killed by curiosity, it will be him. He is quite intelligent and loves learning, especially loves stories. He is quite fond of rock and roll, and can even play some guitar and sing some songs. He's somewhat lonely, but that is only because he doesn't have any close friends and spends most of his time working. The best thing at the end of a hard day at work is an ice cold root beer and some music.

"If ever a soul longed as much as he for adventure, then they would surely find themselves lost without it."

Alrighty! Want me to start first?

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments ((Haha! XD))

Anneke was strolling down the busy street with an amazing amount of children running around, trying to reach the super market which was proving to be rather difficult since some of the children would pass a ball towards her and she would have to send it the other way. Well, the Summer Festival was today so Anneke shouldn't have been too surprised to see it busy today but she was, more than she cared to admit. Apparently, jumping from home to home didn't make her all that aware of the next coming days of eating, playing games, and all sorts of fun. But for today, Anneke was only interested in one thing: finding an actual job rather than in the diner. The super market was the only place she could think of that had a few available spots for the summer and she wanted to grab them as soon as possible. For the possible chance of being set up with an interview, she was dressed with black pants, her Docs, and a collared shirt one of the girls said she could use. Her hair was wrapped in a neat ponytail and was almost thinking of letting it loose when it seemed to be a bit windy today. Anneke soon came upon the sign that read, Marley and Sons and knew that this was her stop. Taking a deep breath and opening the door, she immediately walked up to the cashier who didn't seem to be busy at all, reading the morning paper, and cleared her throat. The woman looked annoyed at Anneke's random noise and set down the paper roughly. "Whaddya want kid?" The woman asked gruffly. "I was hoping to get a job here," Anneke replied, staring at the woman's eyes. "You? A job? In this place?" She certainly seemed to like to repeat the very words Anneke just told her. But the woman eventually rang someone up on the phone and was all hushed and whispers. Once off, the woman said she could come tomorrow for the interview. Anneke let out a sigh of relief, pleased that she wouldn't have to wait long, and exited out of the market. Today was certainly looking very promising so maybe she could enjoy herself for a while before having to go back home. The wind seemed to have decided to die down so Anneke let her hair loose and tucked the rubber band in her pants. But the question about what to do next was an utter mystery.

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton was out in the fields, turning the soil and getting ready to plant another field. He'd finished one other one so far and needed to get this second one done before lunch. He'd woken up at four AM to make sure he'd finish and boy was he glad he did. As it was he would cut it close. It was spring in the year 1980 and this time of year was always busy for Ashton, turning soil, planting crops, setting up irrigation and making daily runs into town to get feed and such for the chicken coop. It was somewhat of a boring lifestyle and very consistent which annoyed Ashton to no end. Since as long as he could remember, Ashton had always longed to set out on a grand adventure, do something that really mattered, join a cause. But her in his small town on his farms, causes were scarce and grand adventures ever rarer. Snapping out of his day dream he realized he'd let his till drift off course a little bit and quickly corrected it. All of a sudden, the tractor he was driving started huffing and puffing, then sputtered to a stop. With a string of profanities, he jumped out of his seat and ran to the engine block, lifting the hood of the mammoth machine. He checked a few gauges and cursed when he found the problem. A fuel line had broken and now he needed gas and a replacement line. He sighed heavily and started walking. He had some money on him and was glad for that as his families house was a half mile the other way from town. He walked out of the field and onto the lonely dirt road that connected his dads farm to the small town they lived by. Looking at the two miles of deserted dirt road ahead of him, Ashton set off at a brisk pace knowing he needed to get back to finish the field. So off he went, down the lonely path thinking to himself how much he'd rather be off somewhere doing something grand.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments ((Apologizes for taking FOREVER to reply back to you! >.<))

Anneke continued walking down the street with her eyes focused on the back and forth movement of her boots as they made turn onto a street and collided with someone. Great. Just what she needed this morning. She looked up to apologize but then broke into a smile when she saw who it was. "Ashton!" Anneke exclaimed, punching the poor guy in the arm. They weren't exactly all that close but she recalled seeing him work in the fields a few times while his father would introduce the both of them. And seeing as though he might be busy, what with the festival going on, Anneke immediately cringed after punching him. "Sorry. I guess I got a little excited. But it's great seeing you!"

message 15: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton had just finished the two mile stretch of dusty dirt road and closed his eyes as a sigh of relief escaped his life. He hated walking that road so much. But just before he opened them, he felt a smaller figure collide with him. His eyes shot open as Anneke stumbled back a little. When she saw it was him, he flinched slightly as her playful blow landed. When she greeted him enthusiastically, Ashton just gave a smile. He knew Anneke from around town and had even talked to her shortly a few times. As far as he could tell, she was a nice enough girl and she was always smiling. He'd first met her a while ago when she had first just kind of appeared in his town and the little town was starting to accept her. She had been sitting on a bench and scribbling madly on a pad. As Ashton passed, Anneke cursed quietly and muttered about a broken pen. Overhearing this, he'd offered her his and even told her to keep it, seeing as she didn't really have much money or a place to live. She had thanked him sweetly and he'd given a nod, much like the one he just gave. Snapping back from the flashback, he spoke, "Anneke, good to see you too! Out wandering the countryside again? I'm headed to town so I can get some things to repair my tractor. Darn thing's nearly fallen apart. Reckon it'll be one more year till it finally craps out for good." Realizing the amount of information he just gave, he stopped talking. Why did he tell her all that boring stuff about a tractor? Guess he just wasn't used to conversing much. That tended to happen when you worked a farm all day.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Anneke laughed as Ashton explained why he was heading to town. It was nice to hear that even farmers had troubles like the rather dull folk in town. Though when he said that the tractor was going to "crap out," a mental picturing of it throwing up suddenly came to mind and she stared at her boots, feeling rather funny that she would even have asuch a Thought, no matter how odd. Of course the machine wasn't going to throw up! Idiot! Anneke bit her lip and stared over Ashton's shoulder. "Mind if I join you? I don't really have anything else to do and I like talking about you. I mean with you! With you." The whole bridge across her nose lit up like a torch and Anneke mumbled, realizing how snobbish that must've sounded, "I hope that's fine with you."

message 17: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton was a little taken off guard by the request, but he decided it couldn't hurt for her to tag along. Besides, he still had a mile to town on the main road. A little company was always welcome. "Sure thing Anneke, I enjoy talking with you too." He replied, putting a little emphasis on the word with. "So what's got you wandering around so bored that you are willing to make a repair run with me? You know most of the others our age think me a bit off." He inquired. He was a very straightforward person and he knew that some were uncomfortable with that. He hated wasting time with insignificant talk of weather or town gossip. He would much rather have an in depth conversation or at least an honest one. They started walking towards town as Ashton waited for his answer, kicking a rock along the way.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments "A bit off? I never considered you in that way, and it's horrible that people would think that way about you, Ashton," Anneke said, shaking her head. She stared up ahead at the street as they walked. "I did look into the grocery store to see if I could work there but the lady said I should come back later in the afternoon. I am glad that I finally started looking for available jobs because I would hate being more of a burden than I already am. And this way I could pull my own weight instead of relying on everyone to feed me." Anneke turned to face him and explained with a sympathetic look, "Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the fact that most people in town want to take care of me, but there's something about caring for yourself that gives you pride, knowing that you aren't taking someone's food or money for granted. And this is why that job means so much to me." She scowled. "But I didn't really answer your question, did I? I thought I'd spend some time with someone I know a bit and get to know about you more. So what is it like to work at the farm or the fields? Quite tiring? Do you get breaks?" She couldn't help with the sudden questions because this time era was all so new to her because in her era, everything was pristine and white. Lots and lots of white with all sorts of gadgets. Here, it was still in the time where tech was just about to grow. And despite reading her textbooks, she didn't go that far into history.

message 19: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton listened to what she had to say and nodded. When she finished speaking, he considered her questions and said, "Why that is mighty kind of you. I always do enjoy a bit of company, so long as it's good. And far as I can tell, you make for good company. To answer your question miss Anneke, mostly I just work until my chores are done, no matter how long it takes. I break for lunch when I need to, but other than that, I just keep on workin. I reckon you don't come from somewhere with a lot of farms, based on your inquiries. But that don't matter much. Say, the grocery store would be a fine spot to work, but if that don't work out I could always use an extra hand milking and plowing and what not. Pay might not be so good, but you can keep a small bit of the crop for food." He offered with a smile. He had been a little overstretched lately with some extra additional chores, and having someone to help would prove mighty beneficial. Also, Anneke seemed like she would be a good worker and good company. He lifted his hat and ran a hand through his hair, kicking away some sweat that had formed on the brim of his hat. He never much liked hot days as it proved almost impossible to stay cool.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Anneke couldn't help but chuckle at his accent. It was certainly something she had grown accustomed to while living in this town for a while, but she constantly giggled silently about it. When he offered to take her up on a job, she almost couldn't believe it. Anneke did have to check if it was okay with the interviewer if they didn't like her but working on the farm would probably be better anyway. "If you still need some help and I'm still looking for a job, I would gladly take it." She cringed and mumbled, "I meant, I would appreciate it if the job was still open."

message 21: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton gave a hearty laugh and said, "Don't worry, no one else will take the job so I can guarantee that it will still be open. Just let me know soon if you want it. Ah, here we are." They had reached the edge of the town and were coming up on the local gas station. They should have the right parts for his fuel line and some gas. Motioning for Anneke to follow, he walked into the grotto style store and spoke with the clerk. In no time he had a fuel line and enough gas to get the tractor going. He would have to take it back to his fuel shed to get it entirely filled before he continued with the field. He grabbed up the gas tank and his fuel line and walked back onto the road. "Say, if you've got some time before your interview, would you want finish the field I'm working now? Consider it an interview for my job if you end up taking it." He said with a smile. He could show Anneke how to do some stuff and maybe she'd like it. Plus, then he eight get some company for a little while longer.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments "Why not? I'd be happy to! And besides, it would allow me to be familiar with what you do so it works both ways," Anneke said excitedly. The idea of working with Ashton was quite exciting since he was one of the most hardworking fellows she had ever met. Sure, she couldn't say that she trusted him completely but working in the fields with Ashton would help make that trust grow. "Would you like some help?" She asked, gesturing to the fuel for the tractor.

message 23: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton was happy that she would help out a little and gave a smile at her response. When she offered help, he just responded saying, "nah, it isn't so bad, I have to do this more often than you would think. Say, you can carry the fuel line for me so I can free up my other hand to carry the gas." She gladly accepted the fuel line which definitely made carrying the fuel easier. The rest of the walk was quite pleasant as a cool breeze started up and batted back the heat that had made the first half of his walk so hot. When they reached his tractor, he fished a tool box out from under the drivers seat and set to work. Soon he had removed the busted fuel line and installed the other one. He showed her how to fill the gas and in no time they had gotten her all fueled up and were back to tilling. He instructed her how to drive the tractor, explaining the gearshift and then explained how to keep the till straight. After a little bit he surrendered the controls to her and said, "go ahead, lets see how you do."

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Anneke gulped at the mechanics of it all but knew that Ashton wouldn't want her to be up there if he didn't think she could do it. In fact, she never knew that this was how old vehicles worked and was use to the simple voice command the pods would comply to back home. "Alright," she said nervously, climbing up towards the seat. Once situated, she asked, "How do I know when to stop?" She had been on such a complicated machine as this one bit it did have the basics like in her textbooks. The steering wheel, the gear thingy, and round wheels. Pretty basic structure but not all easy. At least for Annek

message 25: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments "I'll tap your shoulder once we hit the field boundary. Don't worry, you'll, do great!" He yelled over the engine noise. Anneke started off and as she got the hang of it, he would lean over and tell her corrections until she was really starting to get it down. She was a quick learner and seemed to be very good with the machine. Almost as if she'd driven before. Ashton continued to help her out, only needing to give her minor tips every once in a while until the field was plowed. "Jeez anneke, you're a natural! I can't believe you've never driven one before, it's like you've driven something like this before. You picked it up pretty quickly there!" He exclaimed as he cut the engine and looked out over the field. The smell of fresh soil permeated the air and to Ashton, that smell was quite familiar. "Say, I think you'd better head off to that interview of yours. Don't want to make you late now." He said as he took a look at his watch.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Anneke was surprised at the whole thing mostly because she didn't think it would be at all as easy as Ashton said it would be. But once she got the hang of it, she smiled to herself and listened to what Ashton was telling her. She quickly checked her watch and gasped at the time. Hopping off the tractor, she said to Ashton, stammering, "T-thank you, Ashton for teaching me but I really have to go now! Bye!" And with that, she dashed out of the now partially empty field and headed for the grocery store. Then her thoughts traveled back to Ashton. Did she seem rude with her abrupt departure? Maybe so but they both knew she had an interview later this afternoon. Anneke willed her legs to hurry up and after twenty minutes of running, she reached the store, trying to catch her breath. "You're late," a snooty voice told her as the doors slide open. She looked up to see the same woman from earlier and walked past her, looking at her watch. She only had three more minutes! When the woman guided Anneke to the back where she would be interviewed, she checked for her appearance, hoping that she didn't look messy.
After an hour and a half of talking, the manager explained to her that she wouldn't be able to arrive to work at the last minute and wondered if she would be able to take the job seriously. Before Anneke could answer, he said that he would take her into consideration as he interviews more kids who wanted the job as well. As for if she got the job or not, the manager told her that she would have to wait a week before knowing. Anneke nodded glumly as the meeting was over and headed out of the store. she then made her way to the nearby candy store which was close by and smiled happily as the store smelled of chocolate and sweets. The whole thing had a charming setting and Anneke thought that maybe Ashton would like some sweets as well. When digging brought her wallet to see how much she had, she only had five dollars. But apparently, that could buy her half the stuff in the store if she bought one each. Maybe things weren't so bad here. Anneke handed the five to the cashier and asked for a dozen of milk chocolate swirls with caramel filling and some with fudge filling. She couldn't help but lick her lips in anticipation to eat them as soon as she exited out the store. An surprisingly, she had some change left! Perhaps Ashton would like some chocolate as well. After all, it was the least she could do for him from all his help. So instead of running, Anneke took her time and walked towards the field which she hoped Ashton was at. But what if he didn't like the selection and politely refused the chocolates? Hmmm. . . more for her then!

message 27: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton managed to get his chores done in a pretty timely manner. He didn't mind Anneke's abrupt departure as he understood she had an important interview. The two fields he'd finished went by pretty uneventfully and he was happy to have it finished. Because he'd gotten don a little early, he drove his tractor to a far field that neighbored another property that was quite enormous. The area had wheat planted in it and the crop had already grown about waist high. He parked his tractor and then climbed onto the roof of his large machine. On days where he had time, he liked to watch the sun go down on the horizon. He had about half an hour till the sun actually set, but some of the taller wheat stalks were already brushing the bottom of the yellow orb. The winds blew through the air, recklessly swirling through the wheat, and the sun reflected off the in such a way that the whole thing looked like a golden sea with waves crashing and clashing with each other. He took in the scene with a deep breath and a sigh of relief. He loved days like these. Sometimes he wondered what would happen if he just walked off into the sea of gold that rippled before him and never came back. But not today. Today, Ashton was contented with just sitting back and watching the tranquil scene.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments The sun was setting faster than she would've liked so she picked up her pace and prayed that Ashton was at least in the fields. Sure enough, Anneke could see the outline of the tractor and someone sitting on it. She waved out and called, "Ashton?" And she raced over towards him and the tractor, careful not to damage the goods. When seeing his face, Anneke shot him a bright smile and said, "Hey! There you are! Would you like some chocolate? I know that it will probably make you a lot more thirsty in the end but I just thought I could give you some as a thank you for teaching me the basics of the old clunker." She laughed and held out the paper bag towards him. "Just take whatever you want and then I'll be on my way."

message 29: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments As Ashton watched the sun fall into the wheat, Anneke appeared with a bag of sweets. He was surprised to see her so soon, as he thought she would go and find a place to bed down for the night. "Well hi there miss Anneke, what a pleasant surprise. I figured I wouldn't see you until tomorrow at the soonest. Come on up and watch the sun set with me, it ain't every day that the view is so nice as this." He said, extending a hand to help her up onto the roof, then adding, "and of course I'll have chocolate! Awful kind of you Anneke. Don't ever get to have much of it, I'll have to thank my lucky stars that they sent you around with sweets!" Ashton loved chocolate and found it awful kind of Anneke to think of bringing him some. He'd have to find a way to repay her as he knew she could have spent her money on a meal for herself.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Anneke turned her head to see Ashton and smiled happily. She gratefully grabbed ahold of his hand and hoisted herself up with a tremendous effort. "Thanks!" She exclaimed, sitting right next to him as she handed the bag to him. "You can choose any kind that you want. It's my way of saying thank you for showing me the ropes of handling the good ol' tractor!" Anneke chuckled at this, watching the sun lowering it's presence from this side of the Earth. "Thanks again for teaching me Ashton. Oh yeah! The interview went pretty well buuut," she pouted, "the manager told me I should wait a week and then they can decide whether to hire me or not. So I guess all I can do is wait now until I get a reply."

message 31: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton just nodded politely when Anneke thanked him and just said, "Ain't no problem." When Anneke told him about the news from her interview, he responded saying, "shoot, you can work with me for the week until you know if you get the job. I don't mind at all if you only work the week, and you'll get pay and part of the crop for it." He said, shooting her a smile. He picked a single chocolate out of the bag and took a bite, letting the sugary substance melt in his mouth. He loved chocolate quite a bit and especially loved it's sweetness. The only thing that could compare was fresh honey from the hives they kept on the southern side of their property. The sun had now sunk about a quarter of the way into the golden sea that continued to ebb and flow as if it were liquified aurum.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Annek stared at Ashton in disbelief. Since first off, she had no dies whether or not she was going to get the job at the grocery store and he was also going to add in some payment too? It took all of her energy to not reach out an bug him right on the spot. All she could say was, "Thank you, thank you! I. . . I can't believe it!" She placed a hand on her forehead. "I would like to take you up your offer, Ashton. Are you the manager or something? So are you allowed to hire people on the spot like that or would I have to go talk to someone else about being hired?" She didn't want to seem like she was barging in on the operation he had going on so it seemed normal for her to ask

message 33: by Mac (new)

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton laughed when Anneke asked him if he was the manager. She must not really know how farm work went. It wasn't really systematic or anything, just kind of a code. You work, you get paid. Sometimes drifters would come along looking for work, and for a day of bailing hay and help in the field, Ashton would pay them some money and meal. There wasn't really a hiring process to go through. There was just work that needed to be done and ashton found ways to get it finished wether it be by himself of by hiring help. "Manager? No, there ain't any managers here. My dad owns the property but he can't work it anymore because of age. I work and maintain the fields, and that can be a lot of work. There really ain't much of a hiring process or anything. Shoot, people drift in and out and for a day of work they get money and meals. It's simple. Say, do you have a hot meal and a place to stay tonight Anneke?" He inquired, knowing she'd need a good meal and a solid rest to be any good for work tomorrow.

Her smile quickly returned as soon as it had vanished and she said to him in reply to his question, "I think the Rosewoods would probably take me but. . . I would really hate to impose on them for another day." Right. If that was the case she didn't have a place to stay for the night. But could happen in a night? Lots of things. Anneke shuddered as dark thoughts swirled into her head and she said to Ashton, "In truth, I don't. But don't worry, I'll work out something in the end."

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton listened and then smiled as he had a solution for Anneke. When drifters came by, he would always offer up a spot in the rundown bunkhouse that was next to their house. It had running water and electricity and was actually a nice cozy place to bed down. "He Anneke, if you would like, there is a bunkhouse on the property. You can stay there while you work for me and you can make it your home till you leave if you'd like. We provide meals for our farm hands and everything. In fact, I am about to go make some food, would you like to dine with me? My family is probably headed to bed themselves. Usually I get home late like this, so I usually heat up leftovers and then eat alone. Wouldn't mind some company." He offered

Sure, they had met occasionally but. . . she still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Ashton basically offered her a place to stay. She knew it wasn't for free, since she was going to be working for him until the manager said otherwise. "I-I would like that," Anneke stammered. "Very much so." Then came the thought of eating dinner and her stomach rumbled in agreement. She laughed heartily and said, "I think we would both like that very much. Since I am quite hungry at the moment and m stomach definitely agrees with me."

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Laughing at Anneke's comment, he hopped off the roof and into the drivers seat of the tractor. He detached the till, as he would get it tomorrow when work started in the morning. Then he started up the engine and called up to Anneke. "Hey, hang on up there, I'm taking her back to the barn and then we'll grab some grub. I reckon they had steak and grits for dinner so we're in for a treat. Here we go!" He called to her as he put the tractor into gear. The ride back was easy as he skirted the fields, leaving the restless sea of gold to lap at the confines of its field like waves on a shore.

She was filled with so much excitement that she worried at the fact that she may have seemed a little too over excitement. Resting on her back, Anneke nibbled on the chocolates Asher didn't finish and stared up at the Sky. It certainly was beautiful. Maybe the last wasn't horrible as the Elders made her believe. Sure, the past didn't have the technology they had in the future, but without the past, they wouldn't even have All the gadgets they did now.

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments Ashton parked the tractor and walked back, carefully examining the fields as he walked, making sure everything was sound. Once he was satisfied with his observations, he jogged back to where Anneke was. "Hey, you ready to grab some food? I'm starving and I'll bet you that the leftovers won't take long to warm up!" He called to her, seemingly startling her out of her thoughts.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Jumping from the unexpected sound of a voice, Anneke rolled over the edge to see who it was. She sighed when it was only Ashton. "Thanks! I'll be down in a minute." She looked over shoulder where she had climbed the roof and realizing that it really was easier to climb up rather than down. "Scratch that, maybe five." Slowly but steadily, Anneke found her way down, chocolates in hand and all, and walked over by Ashton. "Alrighty, sir!" She exclaimed with a salute. "Junior Farmer Anneke reporting for duty!"

Mac K (mac_k99) | 1734 comments With a low chuckle, Ashton motioned for her to follow him. He started leading her back to the main house, hoping that the food would be available for them. As they walked, he couldn't help but steal a couple of glances over at Anneke. Ashton never got to talk to people much, and he'd never had many friends, so it was unusual for him to have someone with him that was so open and friendly towards him. He sure didn't want to scare her off or anything, so he stole one last glance and then said, "I think you will like it here, you sure look like you enjoy it." he said, noting her generally cheerful attitude.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 214 comments Anneke was constantly turning her head this way and that when Ashton lead her towards a cute little house. She still couldn't believe that she had actually found a wonderful person to possible help her out when she needed it. After all, he did just give her a job and that would certainly help. But she couldn't distract herself from her real mission. She had to find that necklace and hopefully, just by working here, she could find some clues that may all lead to her way home. "Do I?" Anneke asked, raising an eyebrow. "I could be holding a cheerful facade here and you would never know. I'm kidding! I really am glad that you got me a job here. After all, this seems to be loads better than the grocery store."
