Fran | 12277 comments Hi Bethany,

I read a second of your picks for me....The Theory of Attraction The Theory of Attraction (Science of Temptation, #1) by Delphine Dryden . What a fun, sexy read! Nerdy scientist has a few secrets...and shares them with his neighbor :) Thanks for the pick, I really enjoyed it.

I finished Vicious Circle (Persephone Alcmedi, #1) by Linda Robertson July 9. It was an interesting start to a series and better than I expected it to be, so I'll probably pick up the second book at some point."

Glad you liked it!

Hi Karen!

I did miss your post. I'm glad you liked Charming The Prince. I read it a few years ago and don't remember the sex scenes. I almost want to go read it again to check out the weirdness, lol.

I hope you like A Kiss To Remember!

Jamie ~ Bad Boy Inspector (jamie_badboyinspector) | 35 comments I finished Temptation Rising – A.C. Arthur and I enjoyed it. I did want to throttle the heroine a few times but overall it was a good read.

I loved a kiss to remember . It was so sweet . Thanks for introducing me to this author , looking forward to more books by her.

Btw knight in shining armor can be read as a standalone ?

So glad you liked it!

A Knight In Shining Armor is linked to the Montgomery series but is considered a stand alone.

I'm a bit late and am just about to start If Only (Masters of the Shadowlands, #8) by Cherise Sinclair ... Better late than never right :D?
Been excited to read this one

~KarenH~ | 11328 comments Hi Shelby! I thought I'd already posted this, but when I went back and looked I couldn't find it, so I'll try again - it's really sad when the brain starts to go...

I finished The Collector about a week ago, and as usual with most anything Nora Roberts, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the pick! I'm hoping to get to a couple more this month but July is always a busy month for me, so I'm not sure if I'll make it or not - hopefully I'll get to at least one more!

i did start reading the second one - it was just like...ummm I kind of like some semblence of an ending - glad my friend who loaned me the kindle version had books 1 & 2 or I may have been more grumpy

message 262: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments Liz-
I finished my second book Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward . I'm glad I finally read it because it has been recommended to me SO many times on this challenge and others. I didn't love it but didn't hate it. I am assuming the series gets better as it goes on so I'll put the next one on the TBR. Hope to get at least one more in this month…probably The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa as I currently have that out from the library.

message 263: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Pam - i found Dark Lover only ehhh...the only reason I suck with the series was because everyone told me how awesome book 3 was and I'm glad I did

message 264: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments So I have to hold out for Book 3….good to know. Need to read in order?

message 265: by Amy J. (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments Book 3 is by far the best! And yes, it's a series that needs to be read in order.

message 266: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments and book 2 wasn't bad either, but bk 3 is still the best by far in the series

message 267: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Book 3 was good, Pam. I confess, though, that I couldn't continue after book #4. The OTT description, language, names were just too much for me given that I'm not much of a PNR fan in the first place. Just to give a different view as almost everyone I know are fans of this series.

message 268: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I'll agree book 4 started the downward trend and yet, I keep reading the damn things...although haven't read the most recent yet

I finished Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter, #6) by Nalini Singh early yesterday and absolutely loved it. I made the comment in my review that I've definitely stopped thinking of this as the other Singh series. I'm anxious for October to get here so I can read the next book. It looks like it will be mainly about Ash & Janvier with a touch of Raphael & Elena.

I finished reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and I enjoyed it! It's so weird that this book was written in the 30's and it's ALMOST accurate! The dependence on pills (pain, anti-depressent, etc;) and the rampant meaningless sex is so true of now. This book should be a part of every high school english curriculum, if it's not already.

message 276: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments Amy J - finished my reads for this month, both of which were alien/science fiction books, now that I think about it.

Cress (Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer - looved. loved the narration more than anything else. can't wait for the next one.

Year Zero by Rob Reid - didn't love quite as much. and yes, the logo is supposedly similiar to napster because the entire story is about copy infringement and music and aliens. kinda got bogged down from the middle onwards. narrator did a good job but glad to get it read and done.

thanks for the picks!!

Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Kaileigh,
I just finished my second pick for the month, one of the lo-o-o-ng ones: The Wheel of Fortune. It took me most of the month to read its 1171 pages, but it was good. Thanks for recommendinig it because I would never have picked it up otherwise, even though it has been sitting here on my dusty TBR shelves for years! It was a 'multi-generational, totally dysfunctional family, star-crossed/mixed class lovers' genre, complete with murders and cover-ups and greed and much more. For anyone who likes to read a mini-series in book form, this would make a great one!

LaurLa | 5085 comments Penny - I've finished 2 picks so far. I so wanted to do more but I think I over-extended myself this month. I still have 1 more to go in the Monthly Challenge and 4 more in the Meet n Greet Round 4 Challenge and none of them overlap. Sigh. So much to read and so little time!

Here's what I read. I'll update again if I get a chance to read more...

I've finished two more picks - Rock Chick Rescue and Rusty Nailed. I enjoyed them both so thank you for picking them!!

I won't be able to finish, but I do plan to start (and hopefully get a good chunk out of) Outlander. I just have to finish the book I am listening to first...

Kaity | 492 comments Christina wrote: "I finished two picks so far. Styxx (Dark-Hunter, #12) by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Romancing the Duke (Castles Ever After, #1) by Tessa Dare. I liked them both and listened to both in audio. Styxx was the longest book I have listened to, and while it was good, I just think there was probably a little too much detail in it. If you decide to read this one, keep a box of tissues handy.

I liked Romancing the Duke, but for me, I think it was a little predictable. It was a very sweet happily ever after kind of book though.

Thanks for the picks Kait. "

I've never read anything by Kenyon before but I've meant to for ages. Night Pleasures was picked for me in Meet and Greet so I'll finally make time for it in Aug or Sept. I can't imagine doing the audiobook version of Styxx! O.o I have trouble paying attention to audiobooks unless I'm doing nothing but sitting there :P I'd never finish.

Glad you liked both books :)

message 283: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 492 comments Hiya Kami! :)

I can't believe it is already July 24th and I've only had time for 1 book this whole month :( I was able to read a book a day in June. July just isn't my month apparently.

I just finished Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. I enjoyed it (3 star read for me) but I definitely didn't do the book justice because of how broken up and slow my reading of it was. I absolutely LOVED Rowell's writing style, so unique and enjoyable to read. It's just... because I had so little time to read everything was so drawn out and the romance was already slow burn, it felt achingly slow to me. (view spoiler). I definitely plan on reading more from Rowell though and hope to one day reread Attachments when I can read it in one or two sittings, I think I'd enjoy it a lot more that way.

Thanks for the pick! I hope to get more in but based on how this month has gone thus far... I'm not holding my breath. I added all your picks to my TBR though and will definitely get to them when I have more time to read.

My sister has a copy of Eleanor & Park so that will probably be my next venture into her books.

:D I actually had a quiet weekend and was able to do more reading!

I reread Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb . Thanks for picking it for me! Eve and Roarke are one of my favorite couples but it's been a long time since I've read any books from this series (sometime before I joined GR in October since I didn't have any Robb books on my read/TBR). I love this first book sooo much and was excited to have an excuse to read it again.

LaurLa | 5085 comments Penney - I didn't read even half what I wanted :-( Just too many other challenges to finish. But I'm so glad I read Flowers from the Storm - I'm late to the historical romance world, especially the older ones, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect - except maybe it would be a 'bodice ripper'. Boy was I wrong!! This was such a great book - I could squee on it all night but that's been done for the last 20 years or so, so I won't add mine to it. But thanks for the rec!!!! Now I must go find more Kinsale...

I plan to start Rock Chick Rescue this evening and while there are more nights than not that I would stay up to finish it, tonight I won't be doing that - too many nights of THAT in row this week. But at least it's a start on some of the other ongoing challenges I've got going.
