SOLVED. SF Daughter of superheroes who has no powers and had gotten kidnapped a number of times during her life and the super villain is back to cause her trouble. [s]

I read this 5 - 10 years ago. The young woman is the daughter of superheroes but has no powers of her own. She has been kidnapped several times throughout her lifetime and in the beginning of the book the bus she is on is hijacked by criminals/villains and she needs to be rescued. She was held captive for a year or more by a master villain and there was some question if she helped him or was brain washed by him. And now he is back and mayhem on a grand scale ensues.

I read it up in Canada At Chapters in Montreal in hardcover. It was in English but I don't know if I have ever seen it in the U.S. I also thought it was by a well known best-selling international SF/Fantasy author.
