Hopefully I will be able to join because I rea ally want to see what this series is about and I'm guessing the show diverts from the book after the first season or so I'm told
I'm thinking about a reread of this series, I feel like there's so much detail I missed or have forgotten since first time round. Doesn't help with the show confusing it in my mind, can't trust my memories! Might be the perfect time to join you guys...!
Can't wait to see all your thoughts on this book. I won't be buddy reading this one, but will be taking part in the discussion, as I've read the book a few times. If you like multiple POV books than I think you will enjoy the book / series.
Another buddy read I am looking forward to. I've had this book marinating on my TBR since April 2015. I think it's ready :)
I'll stick with the normal one but I'm interested to see what all the fuss is about (haven't seen the tv show either)

I have the normal edition too, but recently there were new editions that costed 80 euros per book! I think that's almost the same in dollars.I've seen all the seasons, but now the tv - show is ahead of the books. Martin needs to write fast. We're all impatient.

I paint and do drawings of fantasy too so this version was just right for me. Its puuurty indeed!

Yea we could all just practise our patience then?
My 20th ann illustrated is a lovely hardback that has a price tag of 30 £ and was on Offer in my Asda store for 17£
I was walking in Waterstones and I always see a table devoted to game of thrones with the books, maps side stories and even figurines of a DAY NAR RAES and some other people I don't know and it just makes me feel annoyed to see this series get all this when the other books I read don't get that treatment hahaha but once I've read the book I shall proclaim my superiority to the people who only watched the tv show as all book lovers who see books being adapted to film should do

I used to bounce in and out of reading and listening to the Audio Books. When you're listening to someone you really get a better hold of the important one-liners that Martin is famous for because it's expressed differently. There are so many things I missed while reading that seemed unimportant because they only took up one line of a page, but ended up being extremely important.
Ahdam wrote: "I'll stick with the normal one but I'm interested to see what all the fuss is about (haven't seen the tv show either)"I think you'll love this one then Ahdam. Be forewarned though, you must learn how to put down the book mid chapter, or you'll be forced to it after a "Holy Sh*t!" moment at the end of every chapter!
I'm going to be reading this and The Well of Ascension at the same time, so I'll do my best to keep up with both discussions!
Hey Chris, I'll be doing the same thing too. Hopefully I won't get left behind too much. I'm really excited to know what's with all the fuss. My wife really likes the TV series. But I know books are always better eh?
I'm not sure if I should start reading this on the 1st of December....or try to finish mistborn first which may take me a week at most....hmmm decisions!
Martin wrote: "I'm not sure if I should start reading this on the 1st of December....or try to finish mistborn first which may take me a week at most....hmmm decisions!"If it were me, I'd try to finish Mistborn first. I get confused when reading two relatively complicated fantasies!
I've started now and the prologue is very interesting but from what I heard from this book I'm keeping my guard up just in case

Yea im kind of same. I am loving Mistborn ao much right now
Can't wait to start this with you guys. I've read the first book to about page 515 then stopped to watch the tv series, things weren't adding up and I didn't want to get confused or disappointed. So, I'm ready to dive back in. However, December is a hectic month on its own I hope I can keep up.
Enjoy Danisha, we've space these BR over 2 months, so hopefully if you don't get the book read in December you will have time in January.
I have read the first two books in this series so won't be joining the buddy read for these but will take part in the discussions. When you move onto A Storm of Swords I hope to jump in and start reading the series again myself.

Actually Barry, I got hooked by Well Of Ascension, and haven't touched this in the last few days!
I'm rereading this series with you guys. I need to finish a couple other books I'm currently working on so I'll be late in starting but it's a reread for me so hope to still participate in the convo.
Angela wrote: "Enjoy Danisha, we've space these BR over 2 months, so hopefully if you don't get the book read in December you will have time in January."I forgot this was a two-month read. I'm going to try and start this sometime next week.
Ok I've read 50 pages so far I'm going at a slower pace due to some priorities and I'm very interested in the characters and I'm slowly getting a grasp but the houses here are very extensive I'm glad there's an appendix because I may refer to that a couple of times Just so you guys know the only thing I know about the series is the reputation so I know that I shouldn't expect good things to happen as well as some extensive politics here also there's the STUPID meme that some idiots on Facebook share because they just want to ruin it for the people who haven't watched the series....dicks 😡😡😡😡
@Ahdam As long as you don't know who the characters are, you're safe. A friend of mine just started this series too, and she wasn't spoiled because she didn't know who played what character. Adding to that, the show deviated quite a bit from the books so you'll probably be confused by some of the memes anyway. :)
On page 9...I'm liking the writing style very much so far. " Fear filled his gut luke a meal he could not digest"
Hey Guys :) I found this table of contents which might be very useful, because we don't have chapter numbers. Still it might be a tiny bit spoilery because the chapters are named by the characters perspective and if you look at it you know which character will show up next and which don't (I mean we are talking about The song of Ice and Fire... just saying...) but as long as you don't click at the names it doesn't give away anything storywise. So I think I just share it and you could use it, if you like to :) http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/...
Anybody else actually reading this? Or is this how buddy reads are usually? Its awfully quite i had the impression my notifications would go mad come 1st december!
I'm still reading it Martin I'm about hundred pages in but I have a deadline for Skye essays this week and next week so that takes a priority unfortunately but once I'm done with those 2 my attention will be to this bookIt just depends some people read at different paces and want to get as much out before talking or they may have plans this month and don't have time I'm sure they'll be around
Ahdam wrote: "I'm still reading it Martin I'm about hundred pages in but I have a deadline for Skye essays this week and next week so that takes a priority unfortunately but once I'm done with those 2 my attenti..."No prbs...well theres 2 of us for sure...im kind of sucked into it and eager to discuss and this was my first legit buddy read...was expecting it to be more alive i suppose.
I am also reading! I am at chapter 10 right now and very happy I am doing this re-read :) There are parts I already forgot and there are other parts I knew what will happen and it is like watching a bad horror movie... "Nooooo, don't go down to the basement!!!". Sontimes I got the feeling I could appreciate scenes even more because I know the context!Still I am a bit quiet, because a.) It's difficult to talk about my reactions without giving away too much and b.) I booked myself into a corner with to other Buddy Reads and I am a bit overwhelmed :D But I am dying to see what you guys think of the book ;)
Anni wrote: "I am also reading! I am at chapter 10 right now and very happy I am doing this re-read :) There are parts I already forgot and there are other parts I knew what will happen and it is like watching ..."So far im enjoying it very much. Its an easier read than i thought it would be.
I'm on chapter 13 and I'm liking it as well the writing style is very good and I like how Martin shows in a hundred pages this isn't your normal fantasy
