Stanislas Sodonon (stanislasher) Hi alll.
Well, I set my humble sights on 24 books this year, or an average of two books a month.
There's a twist to my reading challenge, though: GrimDark Only (if possible), and No Rereads.
I'm doing fine so far. Seem to be 5 books ahead of schedule.

How I "read":

I tend to start 3-4 books at the same time, reading the prologue and first few chapters. Then I choose one to stick with till the (bitter?) end.

If a book stays long in that "pending" state, it's a given that I'll eventually abandon it.

I only get access to Ebooks, and my eyes can't take the extra pressure, since my job already forces me to do a minimum of 8-10h of screen. So this is my solution:

-> MoonReader Pro
-> Ivona Amy TTS

I also am a compulsive diagonal reader, so I find this setup the best way to force me to actually soak in a story instead of just skimming it.

The Amy voice is generally pretty good, and I can pretty much "read" while doing chores, or driving, or lying in bed. Plus, the size of an Epub on my phone beats the 1GB+ of an audiobook anyday :-p

so far this year (ignore the edition, I'm too lazy to specify) :

The Waking Fire
The Broken Eye
A Crown for Cold Silver
The Iron Ship
The Last Mortal Bond
Red Sister
City of Stairs
The Fifth Season
The Killing Moon
Traitor's Blade
Thief's Magic
Black Wolves
The Grim Company
Sword of the North
Kings of the Wyld
The Ten Thousand
The Obelisk Gate

The goal is within my reach

Stanislas Sodonon (stanislasher) Alright, time for an update. Well I believe I've just found me a new best author besides Stephen King and James Clavell.
Everyone, say hello to N.K. Jemisin

Just finished The Inheritance Trilogy, which explains the little delay in update. What an adventure. It's that lady's style, more than the stories she tells, that makes me want more of her work.

Now that I think of it, should this count as 3 books? :-p

I started :
The Court of Broken Knives
Sister Sable
The Forgetting Moon

in parallel recently. It's... not going well for any of those.

On the prowl again. No idea what to read next.

Maxine Robinson Wow I love love love your challenge. Quite a few on your list that I want to read. Have you read Kings of the Wyld yet? I wouldn't say it's full grimdark but it's one of the best fantasy debuts I've read. It was fun, witty and really well written. I'm off to add some of the ones you have mentioned to my to buy list.
