Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 242 comments I'm not sure if this one would fit the one with 'a piece of clothing on it'.
www.goodreads.com/book/show/22454119-...
Since, somehow this book doesn't appear when you search for it with 'add book/author' (even though the writer is a goodreads author), I just put a link above.
You see a part of the tux the main character (Franky Fritz) is wearing - it is a huge part of the story and his identity. And you can see a small part of the dress the lead singer is wearing.
When it counts, this would be my 7/10-th book for disctrict 8. When not, well I still have time to find another one...;)

District 9 kill: "Buddha in the Attic" has an unnamed narrator.
It took a bit of getting used to the style of writing which is a listing of sorts of the experiences of a group of Japanese Mail order brides. It is a fascinating look at the immigrant experience made poignant by the losses endured. The section on the interment camps is a study in the mental anguish of displacement. Definitely 4 stars for me.
