The Fellowship of the Talisman While technically set in the 1980's, it is not the 1980's that we know. More like in the Dark Ages.

If you're looking for humor, you need to look at the Myth Adventures series by Robert Asprin, starting with Another Fine Myth
Villains by Necessity is another interesting book you might like Kiriko. It definitely turns the whole quest thing upside down, with the villains having to save the world, instead of the heroes.
And Scott--nice to meet a fellow fan of Talisman. Like you, I didn't think many people had read this either.
And I'm going to second your suggestion of the Myth Adventures books. They were a hoot.
And if you really like humour, try the Ebenezum Trilogy. A Malady Of Magicks is the first book in the series. Then there is a spin off from that about Ebenezum's apprentice Wuntver, the Eternal Apprentice A Difficulty with Dwarves. These are really funny books (can we all say 50 foot weasel (as in the animal, not a nasty person). Really, really funny.

Anyway, I really would like to read another story like that, not sure what genre you could call it so I put adventure/ fantasy.
I guess main points would be, the book must have;
1. A quest/Journey [i.e someone travelling to get something in order to accomplish something else]
2. A hero (preferably male) with a gang or just another person to travel with
3. Humor, I like funny
A Love interest is optional. Also I wouldn't mind if the MC was Royal that would be cool.
Lastly, please nothing about pirates, I am not a fan.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions :-)
