Camille (camillesbookishadventures) 61. Après La Rafle by Joseph Weismann
Après La Rafle
This is the memoir of a Jewish boy and what happened to him during WWII, after his whole family was arrested and sent to the Vel d'Hiv. It's a must read (if you can read French!)

Overbooked ✎ (kiwi_fruit) | 800 comments Camille, I read another book I really enjoyed that deals with the Vel' d'Hiv episode: Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay , previously I had no idea it of what happened.

message 58: by Camille (new)

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) Thanks for the recommendation, Kiwi! I've added it to my TBR books. It's definitely something I want to read.

Overbooked ✎ (kiwi_fruit) | 800 comments I hope you'll enjoy the book Camille, I didn't care that much for Julia's story, but I felt for Sarah and enjoyed very much the retelling of the historical events.

The Pearl seems to have been really popular this year, Camisole! There's been a lot of talk about it in the group!

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) 66. Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys
Wide Sargasso Sea
I found it was a nice story and I like the link with Jane Eyre. However, it can be read on its own, I think. I especially liked the atmosphere of it.

67. Laura Ingalls Wilder A Writer's Life by Pamela Smith Hill
Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Writer's Life
I'm a Laura Ingalls Wilder lover, so anything related is interesting to me!

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) 82. The Siege by Helen Dunmore
The Siege

A historical novel set during the siege of Leningrad is always a win for me. I really disliked the writing style, which spoiled the whole thing for me, unfortunately.

message 81: by Camille (new)

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) 85. The Book Thief
86. Anne's House of Dreams

That brings my total for the year at 86. Given that originally I had intended to read 36 books, we can say that this year was a success reading wise :-) !

CaptKirk42 Classic Whovian (klandersen) | 455 comments Wow good idea adding the cover images to post #1. I need to do that I guess. Maybe go back to last year's and 2014's posts. I don't think there are any older "personal challenge" posts.
