When Harry receives the video of his daughter, Maddie, he immediately believes her abduction is tied to the John Li investigation. Was that your assumption, too? Why or why not?

Yes, at first because it came immediately after Chang's arrest.
However, once Harry arrived in Hong-Kong and it became clear that Maddie was taken by Quick (He's brother), I started thinking that there might not be a connection.

It was never mentioned in the dialogue but Maddie's relationship with He and Quick started up much earlier than Harry's case. As soon as her abduction was tied to these two, I no longer believed they were connected.

Same here. At first I thought it was tied to Chang's arrest. But once Harry arrived in Hong Kong, I wasn't so sure. Actually, I thought it may have been tied to Eleanor and her gambling.

I also considered that it was related to Eleanor's gambling, all the way to the end.
