Well, Elliot's Grandpa Mills was a Marine...
I REALLY want to hook Will & Taylor into the rest of Josh's universe, because all the other major characters are already there. Elliot & Tucket connect to Adam & Rob who connect to Sam & Jason who connect to Adrien & Jake who connect to Kit & JX... So I'm looking for connections to W&T!

Oh wow. Sounds like we're going to have to have a map of the characters pretty soon!

I think Jake will get along well with Will... not sure what he would think about Taylor (LOL), but Adrien might understand more Taylor's "jump in with both feet" tendency. Since Jake is a PI, their path could cross over....
I reached the part in Dead Run where the amnesia happens this morning. I forgot that little swear word David was grinning like a fool when Taylor first walked in. *grumbles incoherently*

Ha! You guys are going to love this. :-) Here's another character interview in which David Bradley is mentioned (sort of, LOL). This is Character Interview #2: Conlan and Finn from LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS. Josh posted this on her blog May 10th, 2013. I had totally forgotten about the hints about David in this one until it was mentioned on Josh's FB Fan Page yesterday.

Reading this makes me want to start rereading Lovers and Other Strangers, too!

Also, if I remember correctly Josh mentioned somewhere at some point that Kick Start works as a "bridge book" in the series. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Josh!)
What do you guys think about that? How does it show?

I finished Dead Run this morning. It's my favorite of the series, despite the whole amnesia thing - but I do love what Josh did with it and how it helped Will realize where their relationship had gone sideways. It even explains why Will didn't tell Taylor about the job offer, because what Will realized was wrong was the job. One way or another, the job would get in their way, and Will had already made up his mind to resign. Does that mean he shouldn't have told Taylor? No, of course not. But I can see why he didn't feel the need to bring it up when it wasn't an option for him anymore. I'm going to wait to reread Kick Start. It's easily my least favorite. It's unfocused and doesn't stand on its own very well at all, so I'll get to that whenever the next book is released.

I know this one wasn't one of my favorites... but I can't remember who Paul was either, and I want to know.
Apparently Josh thought the two of them weren't fit to be together, but why? Who else should David get to be with?

No one deserves Guy.
Linda ~ chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny ~ wrote: "No one deserves Guy."Hmm... You must like David more than I do. ;)
I think my favorite so far is Trio's idea of finding him a Taylor clone.
I always hoped that Josh would write that David and Taylor got trapped somewhere and by the end of it David...definitely saw what Will loved about Taylor.
Kim wrote: "I always hoped that Josh would write that David and Taylor got trapped somewhere and by the end of it David...definitely saw what Will loved about Taylor."I would love that. It made sense to have a foil at the beginning of the relationship but it's well past time for David to move on.

Thanks, Johanna. I forgot about that one.
Poor David. Maybe there will be no HEA for him. He'll just keep popping up in random books and in our discussions whenever we cook up an unlikely pairing. ;)

sorry but that gives me the shivers... with the fake English accent and the goofy mannerisms? Sorry but David is too good for that. Adrien was seriously on the rebound there, but at the time I could see they were a good fit lover.
Kim wrote: "I always hoped that Josh would write that David and Taylor got trapped somewhere and by the end of it David...definitely saw what Will loved about Taylor."O.M.G. - Plot Bunny! So Taylor is in Will's apartment waiting for him to come home and David knocks on the door with some weird paperwork or something. There is an earthquake (or natural disaster) and they have to wait it out... plus there is the added stress of 'maybe these are our last minutes on earth'. So Taylor is like, "What attracted you to Will?" and David is like, "How come you never made a move on him till I had him?" gah someone take it from here please?
Trio wrote: "Kim wrote: "I always hoped that Josh would write that David and Taylor got trapped somewhere and by the end of it David...definitely saw what Will loved about Taylor."O.M.G. - Plot Bunny! So Tayl..."
Earthquake wouldn’t work, since your average quake is unlikely to cause that amount of damage here. Power outage stuck in an elevator is more likely. Or firestorm.
I just started the audio version of Old Poison tonight... Adrian Bisson is so fantastic, it just all works so well.I love all the foreshadowing in this one.
Have you guys finished Kick Start yet? (not you, Trio, I just saw your post ;-) )Let's count heads: Who of you likes Will's dad? Raise your hands...! :-D
Paola mentioned in her review that the book had a slower pace than the ones before it and Will & Taylor got a little breather. Did the story feel slower to you?
btw, I loved to see a bit/a lot of Will's backstory. Even the old girlfriend. ;)
I don't see how this is considered a breather. If anything, I thought they were getting into more shenanigans than in the previous books. I remember liking Will's dad, and being disappointed we really didn't get to see more of him or Will's brother than we did.
I never thought that this book was slow or a bridge to the next book.I loved Wills Dad and loved the brother and Taylor together.
The fight scene when Taylor was trying not to hurt him for get beaten was funny.
I think Will just turning up with Taylor and his brother finding out like that was uncool.
He should have told them outright before this.
Though I did love Wills growth in this as he stepped forward to acknowledge their relationship to his family.
Loved the PI s very bad reports on Will and Taylor s activities.
I finished re-reading/re-listening to both Dead Run and Kick Start a couple of weeks ago.
Kick Start is the only Josh book I don't absolutely love. I left it unrated from my first 2013 read until this re-read, when I realized it was much better than I thought at the time. Listening while re-reading the whole series in sequence probably helped.
Something didn't work for me in 2013, but I couldn't pinpoint it, and I think that was so upsetting (What? A Josh Lanyon book I don't absolutely love???) that I over time made up content that isn't even in the book! Somehow I constructed an ending with a car chase, where Taylor and Will were fleeing the cackling brothers (who had become Deliverance-style caricatures), and the story stopped there. Maybe this was from a bad dream? ; D
Anyway, on this re-read I found a lot to love (will post later), but I still don't love the whole book. So I tried to identify my niggles, and one of them is the strain of no intimacy between the guys for what was it? Over two weeks? Which was so unlike these two, but also so like real life when financial and family stressors interfere. Nonetheless, I kind of hated them having to go through that. :(
But I finally identified my main issue, which has little to do with anything except my own personality: I have no sense of humor. Ha, ha! Of course I have a sense of humor, but it has, uh, gaps. (For example, I hate Seinfeld.) No, more apropos, I don't find the P.I. and his progress reports funny. Just annoying. I know I should find them funny, but there's a humor gap. Sorry. And I'm pretty sure that character will be back to bite me...

I didn't find those reports funny either. Annoying, yes. Funny, no. But then, I'm not a comedy show lover either.
Wha???? I'm a big Seinfeld fan :-). Best show on tv in 90s (apart from X-Files)I think Kick Start seems like a breather and a bridge because there's no actual crime/mystery to solve. It's a mix of fear (cousin Dennis) and moronic (but potentially dangerous) behavior from those brothers. However, it's a big progress in the relationship part (coming out to his family...lol) and the certainty that their new business would be viable.
I think the PI's reports provided a bit of comic relief :-)
Josh wrote: "I think Jordan was asking about the delivery time of Blind Side. I do hope to have it out before the end of the month. I'm actually working on Murder Takes the High Road for Carina right now becaus..."
Uh. Well, that was optimistic.
And unrealistic. I had to switch over to Murder Takes the High Road. It's due to Carina Press at the end of the month, and progress has been slow enough that I need to focus on that.
Not that I won't finish BS, but it's taking longer than hoped.
As everything does these days.

Here's something I want to ask you guys now that we've finished our reread: What do you hope to see in Will and Taylor's future (in Blind Side)?
Johanna wrote: "Here's something I want to ask you guys now that we've finished our reread: What do you hope to see in Will and Taylor's future (in Blind Side)?"Wickedly I'm looking forward to seeing Will meeting Taylor's ex, get a taste of David-not-respecting-boundary-Bradley deja vu :-P
Johanna wrote: "Here's something I want to ask you guys now that we've finished our reread: What do you hope to see in Will and Taylor's future (in Blind Side)?"I would like to see Will lower his inhibitions, shore up his confidence, take a deep breath, and do something non-vanilla for Taylor. I know he finds Taylor's experience intimidating, but it is obvious it intrigues him (his reaction to the "Up" and dreaming of the anal beads). He can buy high thread count sheets and special body wash for Taylor, but can't indulge him with a special oil, knowing how much Taylor likes it? I keep thinking of that first time in the hot springs. Will just let himself go and didn't over think it, and rocked Taylor's world. Josh wouldn't even need to go into detail; Taylor could just have a fond memory of Will stepping outside his comfort zone to display the depths of his love.
Not that I've given this a lot of thought before :)
Will to get a bit of kink on to give Taylor what he needs.Taylor gave up part of what he likes in a relationship, will not so much.
Looking forward to seeing Taylor with an old boyfriend, I love his backstory.
I don't think Taylor needs to see Will get his kink on because I don't think that's what Taylor needs or wants. He's already a sexual equal with Will in the sense that while neither of them are (I cringe at this term) 'natural bottoms', they are both well-versed in the give and take arena, and Taylor actually enjoys being topped - by Will. I think what Taylor wants and needs is for Will to treat him as an equal. Intellectually - on paper - Will DOES treat Taylor as an equal (his thoughts often run to how smart Taylor is and how tough he is), but when push comes to shove, Will's mind always flashes back to the image of Taylor being shot and lying in a pool of blood. Taylor needs Will to push past that and to stop acting as if he knows what's best for Taylor, they can truly move forward.
Steve wrote: "I don't think Taylor needs to see Will get his kink on because I don't think that's what Taylor needs or wants. He's already a sexual equal with Will in the sense that while neither of them are (I ..."Yes, this, too.

And from Taylor, he needs to get over his insecurity about David - and, again, David needs to move on. It's been over two years.

BUT LINDA, WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE THE ONE REAL AND TRUE LOVE OF SOMEONE'S LIFE, IS IT RIGHT TO LEAVE THEM TO THAT OTHER GUY? ;-) Said every stalker ever.
Okay, in fairness, David is not a stalker.

Hah, LOL indeed. I love the dialog that follows Taylor shooting Will (chapter 10, Blood Heat):
"You shot me!" He was staring at Taylor in utter disbelief.
"I know. Sorry." Taylor brushed past him, slamming Nemov over the hood of the SUV. "I need your handcuffs."
Will groped one-handed, found his cuffs, and tossed them at Taylor. "You fucking shot me, MacAllister."
"I know, Will. I'm very sorry." He adjusted the cuffs for Nemov's massive writs, clamped them on, and knocked him to his knees.
It's so easy to imagine Will facial expression during this exchange. :-D
