String Theory Challenge 2014

Really interesting idea Lucy! I think it's going to take a bit of discipline for me, as I usually just read what I want (when I want) but this is definitely something I will try in 2015.
I sort of do this. I do it more so with movies I rent from Netflix. Yes I still do the rent physical DVD discs by mail not the stream via internet, I don't like watching movies on computer. The only time I watch DVDs on computer is when my regular TV DVD player refuses to recognize a disc, which happens more than I'd like even with discs I own.
I just sent Lucy a message to see if she's still interested in doing this one. I hope so. I really like the idea. :)

I know I'm slightly premature, but I thought I'd write this down whilst I remembered. I'm sure 2015 will appear before we even realise it!
Next year I will be doing something I've seen elsewhere on GR. It's called the String Theory Challenge, and it basically means your next book is chosen because it somehow relates to something that interested you in the previous book read. For example:
-I am currently reading The Jungle Book. In my copy, the Foreword was written by Christopher Paolini, an author I have not read before. Therefore, my next choice will Eragon, the first book in Paolini's Inheritance cycle.
OR
- I am currently reading The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes. A character owned a copy of The Parable of the Sower, so I will read that book next.
OR
- I am currently reading Vanished Kingdoms, a non-fiction book about kingdoms in Europe that have dissolved and been forgotten. One of them is heavily tied up in Arthurian legend, a topic of which I am interested in. Therefore, my next book will be The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
I will be following this challenge for most of next year, so let me know if you will be joining! Of course, feel free to start now if you wish :)
-Lucy
