Reader Struggles

I started first a book blog on tumblr together with my friend and also recommended fanfics and the fanfics were where most of our likes and comments came from. So after that I started a blog on wordpress, but I notice that I have weeks that I just don't want to write anything (which i'm kinda in the last couple of weeks) and because of my busy schedule did not have time to work on it.
So I don't really know if the blogging is my thing.
I do really want to find friends who read the same things and talk about them, but that is found to be quite difficult :s
Yes, exactly Veronique! Well, you are welcome to come chat with us!! :)
I think it takes time to find the form of social media that really speaks to you. Like I said, I'm still struggling. Good Luck on the blog, if it inspires you any further. Or on something else that peeks your interest!

Litsy is my current focus. I'm keeping it simple with just posting what I'm reading and then updating again with a short review of the book when I finish it. I also hope to remain active in this group. I would really like to get back into reading blogs and watching booktube, but I haven't gathered the motivation to start in on that just yet.
Yes, I find that to the case. We shy away and have some trouble stepping back in. Your reviews are always so wonderful and informative. So Im so glad you are back.
Ive recently started watching the videos and reading the posts again. I find them inspiring and it is encouraging me to go forward. Hopefully it will do the same for you! :)

Do you have any favorite blogs/channels that I should check out? I do know of a lot, but sometimes checking out recommendations makes it easier to start reading/watching.
My fave channels are Sam's Nonsense, ThoughtsOnTomes, Michellislife, FrankieReads, Latin Lector, Wish Fulfillment, TwoPaperGirls, Kayla Rayne and Between Chapters. I love TheBookLife, The Little Librarian and Meagan Precourt as well. I have too many faves. Im sure I missed quite a few lol

I relate to this post SO much.
I used to have a booktube channel. However, the demands of managing the channel became overwhelming to me due to time constraints. Also, as I began to try to "keep up" with posting relevant content and develop a following, the channel began to feel more like a chore than a joy. As a person with a full time day job and an evening job teaching online classes, the last thing I needed was another job! In the end it just felt like actually hosting a booktube channel took a lot of the magic out of it for me.
Now what I do is just casually post on Twitter and Instagram whenever I'm reading something, have a significant haul, etc. I also still post comments on other booktubers videos and/or social media posts. This allows me to stay connected to the reading community without it becoming such a burden. I am by no means the most active, popular, or noticeable participant, but I've made a few cool friends (including the genius behind this goodreads group).
I'll be honest, a few good friends that come naturally over the course of several exchanges regarding mutual interests is more than enough for me. I've found that, like any space inhabited by humans, lots of activity can also bring lots of drama. That's something I've noticed more frequently - especially on Twitter. So the idea of being "in" and a super visible part of the community doesn't hold a lot of appeal for me. I'm cautiously questing for people who are genuinely just interested in talking about books and other nerdy/geeky media, and just being generally kind to one another.
I think if I were ever to manage any kind of book "site" again, it would probably be a blog. I would just post there whenever the mood hit me and maybe share my posts on IG/Twitter. But I don't have a strong desire to do that right now. For now I'm content participating at the speed and frequency that feels good to me. I'm content to discuss books with the folks that seem to take a liking to me and I to them. Slowly things are happening like buddy reads and great conversations through Voxer or direct messages. These come about when someone is vulnerable and sends an invite for a group, buddy read, etc. When it's something I really want to do, I accept the invite. If it's something that won't work for me in the moment, I don't fret. I know some other opportunity for me to be involved will come along whenever I'm ready.

I really like Litsy - I said I want to get more active posting there too. I like your idea of posting what you're reading, then posting again with a short review. If you don't mind sharing - what's your username there, I'll add you, or you can find me at FrankieReads.
In fact ANYONE here who's on Litsy and wants to connect there, feel free to add me!

Thank u so much for the genius comment. Totally blushing and flattered. I feel so far from it haha
Personally, I think you are a genius and I LOVED your videos. You are so honest and original but I totally understand the "feeling like work" situation. We really have to enjoy it or whats the point?

Yay, another Litsy member! My username is KaitlinS16. I just followed you. :)
How do you feel about your content? Do you have struggles? Are you confident? How do you deal with doubts?
I, personally, struggle to feel included. I joined Booktube so that I had "adult" time with people who loved to read as much as I did. Sadly, my internet (with speeds only a cave man could appreciate) did not allow me to continue. So I created a blog, hoping for similar results. That didn't get many views and I felt saddened. I tried my best, but it wasn't enough. I wasn't noticed at all. My time (remember that slow internet) and thoughts weren't being heard at all. So I took a break. Ever since then, I've been in limbo. I've tried IG and love it, but I'm no ground breaker in the pic department lol
I think it's hard to keep up with public demand. I walk a fine line between trying to get noticed and yet still being me. I don't want to stress myself out over the very thing that's supposed to bring me much needed joy. Make sense?
My end goal was and still is...make friends. Make lots of friends! I want to have fun, silly conversations everyday with a few people and feel like I got my "adult" time in. I want to laugh over books, cry about books, and share it all with wonderful people. ARCs are cool. Massive followers...yeah that'd be cool. It's just not necessary. Developing close relationships with my followers....that's the real gold.
So where do I fit in? I don't know. I haven't found my rhythm yet. How about you?
