ABANDONED. man with parasite in brain, book divided into three columns per page, more in comments

I remember reading a book where the main character had a parasite in his head, and each page was divided into three columns, the middle being the parasite's thoughts. I believe they all made sense however you read them. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I kept thinking the author of Fight Club, but I can't see it in his books.

About 10, and I don't remember the cover. A friend I told about it recently asked me for the name of the book. It was a pretty bizarre book, I can't even remember how I found out about it.

Oh, one more question. What genre does the book best fit into?

Was it kind of SciFri and he called the parasit "Pard" like "Pardner"?

It sounds kind of similar to Stephen King's THE REGULATORS. It's about a kid who has some kind of evil brain parasite that is making him sic cowboys and Power Rangers on his neighborhood. If I recall correctly, they did do some weird text things in that book, though I don't remember 3 columns specifically. If it had that, it certainly didn't last the entire book.
