Gary Johnson tells the horrendous story of the rape and murder of the runaway when they were in high school. He was burdened by his role in the situation all of his life. Jewell declared he wasn't a monster. Your thoughts about him? Has he paid enough for his part of the crime?

Angela | 155 comments I believe he tried to atone for his part in the rape and murder. He could never escape the past though. Even though he had left Bodine for many years. I'm conflicted. Part of me feels like he atoned throughout his life, yet if he had come forward at the time he may have saved all those years of his soul being burdened with what he had been part of.

And, if he'd come forward, so many young girls and boys would have been saved.

No, he hasn't paid for that crime. I don't see anything he's done with his life but seek absolution for himself. He hasn't done anything to atone for his participation in a rape.

He wasn't a monster but he was a rapist.
