Now that our read for July has been decided, it's time for everyone to nominate a book for our August 2017 read.

We are doing something a little different for 2017 monthly reads. Starting with January's read we are working our way backward in publication years :)

So - nominate a crime/mystery/thriller/suspense book which was published in 2009 for our August read. True crime or cosy mysteries are included in this :)

NOTE: The beginning or early in a series (if a series) please :)

This thread will be open until 10th July, then our nominations will go to the vote:) Good luck and have fun!

Authors and publishers, please don't nominate your own work!

That's #20 in the series Ellie... a shame as the rest of the criteria is great. Can you pick an earlier one in a series please?

Love that series Phrynne!

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments My library has Black Water Rising by Attica Locke. A debut and #1 in a series and up for a few awards (though has mixed reviews).

I picked this one up at a $1 book sale and can't wait to start it! But I will wait until August now - just in case:)

So, so good - one of my favourite authors now and I have visited the island setting because he created the sense of place so well!

Carolyn | 2078 comments Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo, 4 star GR rating, first in series.

David Kilner (boris1947) Jo Nesbo, The Redeemer (Published in English in 2009). I wanted to nominate a Vera Stanhope or an Alan Banks, but neither series had a publication in 2009.

The Redeemer is 6th in the series David - maybe a little too far in for those who haven't read the earlier books. Can they be read as standalone do you think?

Sorry Brenda! Didn't realise it was the same book! Duh!
It's the only one in my tbr I want to read that isn't late in a series but I'll shop around for another.

What book was it Chloe? Often they'll say that but have (originally published 2009) in brackets...
