Very eerie, especially since she was standing at the graveyard when she heard it. It really freaked her out. It creeped me out too. With her trepidation about even being there, it was a very intense scene.
It was definitely creepy but I thought she should have paid more attention to that scream than she did. She's out in the middle of nowhere and that kind of sound would have resonated pretty loudly.
I'm pretty sure she rationalized that it was a bird or an animal. She did not want to investigate any further. She didn't even want to be there.
My aunt had property like that, acres of isolation and any noise was really amplified. Unless it was a loon, that scream should have sounded pretty human.
I know sound carriers differently in the country. I still go back to she just didn't want to believe it was a human scream.
There are almost no loons in Ohio, but lately, a few strays have appeared. If I were a young woman alone, with a key that did not work, I think I might have run back to my car and then called 911. I would certainly not investigate on my own.
I know in the country, and in old abandon houses, there are noises that you can conjure up in your head that aren't real. There are times when I go back to my mother's house that I hear her call me even though she died ten years ago. The mind plays tricks sometimes.
I think if Faith heard a second scream that would be different even if she heard the scream when she was closer to the house. Since it was only one scream, I can see her looking around, seeing nothing then chalking it up to memories from the past.
