S. Aksah | 25 comments So I have made several sales of twitter and its easy to get going on twitter because you could just follow authors and they would normally follow you back. So right now I'm following 2492 and has some 2405 followers within less than 6 months. So that was like easy peasy piece of cake for me. But I have to confess that FB is totally a different animal. Now I know people have FB author page but I hardly go to mine so I don't think anyone else would want to go there. But I do interact a lot on my main page. I.e basically commenting on anything interesting and getting the conversation going. But the way the FB is set up is kind of difficult for you to reach out outside of your circle. Did anyone else feel the same? And what is the tip that you can share to overcome that circle? Because I have discovered that no matter how good your writing is but if you can't promote your book then you have almost no chance of selling. So I'm proposing that we "struggling writers" banded and network together to expand our circle. Does that sounds like a plan. Here is my facebook link if anyone would like to network: https://www.facebook.com/s.b.aksah

I've been wondering about FB too, since i have an account for social media and everything, but not for writing in itself. Thanks for asking.

S. Aksah | 25 comments Well it's getting better :) I've tried not to be annoying to people lol..and so far its working okay :) I think my FB circle is growing and it did bring in a few sales. But I still observed simple rules such as not to talk too much about my writing and being social instead (i.e ..oww that a nice baby picture you have there etc etc..), not to post on other people's timeline without being invited unless if you are really close to that person..and to help out with others by sharing their new releases, free promo etc on my timeline :)

J.W. Ellis (jwellis) | 5 comments I have been going in circles with social media networking, especially with my debut novel coming out in 3 weeks.

and of course here on Goodreads.

I agree with the last post, part is pushing your book but other is being social, and getting to know people.

Linda Jenkinson (linjen) | 12 comments There is also a facebook likes page (28 of them) here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

As well as your book(s) you need to promote both your page and yourself. Be willing to share with your audience and you will find it will grow on its own, once you have a good base of likers, I've noticed a lot of the page I like are pelting me with their book promos. People don't come to Facebook to be constantly sold to. They come to connect with the things and people they like. Make sure your page has plenty of those things to offer as well as promotionog your writing.

Take a look at the Old spice Facebook page or George Takei's Facebook page.

I have an author page and a personal page because I post some things on my personal page that I would rather not have my prospective readers see and I post some things on my author page that would bore some of my personal friends to tears. However, both are free to like either of my pages.
