Jack Culver tracks down and meets with Rebecca Aubry, one of the Sapphire Trail nurses, and gets critical information but then has it taken from him. Could he have handled this situation differently?

Why he didn't open that package before leaving that house....

I had the same question.

[Anita]

I had a lot of questions about this scene. Who was the woman with Rebecca? A spy? Someone paid to watch and see who contacts Rebecca? Rebecca said she turned everything over, yet still has an original adoption certificate and where would she get that? Wouldn't that be the property of the adoptive parents? Where did the gunman come from and how did he get there so quick? Was he following Jack?

It certainly felt like the gunman was waiting for Adrien and this wasn't a random mugging.

[Anita]

Exactly. I got the impression that Mr. Baddie is someone with a lot of power.

[Jonetta]

Whoever set Eileen up is definitely a person of power. Whoever she worked for 30 years ago is now in a position of influence. Jack's "mugging" was targeted.

[Anita]

Since Eileen and the murder victim were both legal secretaries working in the county courthouse I think Jack could narrow the suspect list down. He has a lot of power and is rich 30 years ago. In the present did he stay a big fish in Charleston or did he move into politics? I'm sure the next books will answer that. I cot the impression he was a judge or district attorney, but he could have been a very powerful attorney too.

I'm thinking he's now a politician.

Me too. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. I bet we have to wait for the third book.
