Ric was acting like a cop, trying to stay as professional as he could. Mia was acting like a scorned lover even before they got involved. She was even acting that way in the last book. I thought their dynamic worked though.

It didn't really work for me. Ric is a serious commitment-phobe and his sudden willingness to be in a relationship (even if it was because he realized he could lose Mia) wasn't all that believable.

Ric is a serious commitment-phobe and his sudden willingness to be in a relationship (even if it was because he realized he could lose Mia) wasn't all that believable. It also seemed that it was more about his jealousy of Scott Black - the whole, I don't want you but I don't want anyone else to have you either kind of thing.
Mia handled it well when she told him that she deserved better, and that she couldn't put her heart on the line when he wasn't willing to reciprocate.

I thought his jealousy of Scott was a bigger driver than his feelings for Mia. I liked that she walked away.
